Sydney DukeMy name is Sydney
Duke. I’m 14 yrs old and going into grade 9 at Kipling School. I live on a farm by Langbank with my parents David Duke and Kimberley Bowes Duke.
I ride with the Sasktoba gymkhana club and also
take Hunter/jumper lessons. Most things I love to do involve my horses Wednesday and Gypsy.
Katelyn GarveyHowdy, I’m Katelyn
Garvey. I am 15 years old and live on a farm south of Wapella.
In my spare time I enjoy being out in the pasture with my cows and riding my horses, Pistol and Jake. I recently got my MRCA rodeo card so I
hope to be competing in most of the local rodeos. I spend most of my summers in the fi eld raking and baling hay for my dad as well as fencing and checking the cows.
You may recognize me because I ran for rodeo queen last year. I enjoy running for queen not only for the chance of winning but for the experience. If you get the chance I suggest running for rodeo queen because it is fun and you make lots of new friends. I would like to wish all the fellow queen contestants good luck! See you at the rodeo!
Montana TurpieHello, my name is
Montana Turpie and this weekend I will be riding my 9 year old horse, Qix. I am 15 years old and an upcoming grade 10 student at McNaughton High School. My dad is Corey Turpie and we live on an acreage outside
of Moosomin. My mom, Cynthia Mathison, lives on a farm outside of Elkhorn, MB. I also have an older brother and two younger sisters.
I’ve been on the back of a horse since around the age of two. Currently I participate in barrel racing, am involved in Gymkhana, and am the president of my 4-H club. In the fall I will be starting my fi rst year of High School Rodeo. I’m most looking forward to poles, but hope to excel in the other events as well. When I’m not spending time with my horse I enjoy reading, painting, curling and photography.
I would like to wish the other contestants good luck and hope everyone enjoys their rodeo weekend!
Lauren McConnellMy name is Lauren
McConnell and I am 15 years old. I am entering grade 11, at McNaughton High School in Moosomin. I live on a ranch south of Moosomin with my parents Geoff and Jeanette, along with my
brother Chayse, and my sisters Reaghan and Julia. We raise cattle and sheep and use horses to move and round up the cattle.
I am riding my 7 year old mare named Sunny whom i have owned for 2 years now. Last year i was part of Sasktoba riding club and this year I am a member of the Archie 4-H Light Horse and Pony Club.
Aside from riding I enjoy curling and acting. This year I was part of the drama production “Crazytown.” We were the regional champions and went all the way to Regina to compete in provincials.
Mikayla FrattingerMy name is Mikayla
Frattinger. I am 15 years old and going into grade 10 in the fall at Elkhorn School. I am the daughter of Trever & Terri. I have 1 brother, Brady and 2 sisters, Shaylee and Avery. I have been part of the Archie 4-H club
for 9 years. I enjoy barrel racing and school sports. I recently
made the Manitoba Summer Games track team which I will participate in this summer. I also like spending time riding my young horses and helping out on the farm.
I’m excited to be running for rodeo queen this year and I wish the other contestants the best of luck!
