Tove Jansson (1914-2001) became one of the key artists in Finnish visual art during the postwar golden age of modernism. As a painter, illustrator and author, Jansson expanded and transformed her expression tirelessly up to the last years of her life. Her works are a re!ection of an entire life philosophy, eliciting enthusiastic responses from children and adults alike in all countries where her works are known.
Tove Jansson’s international success made her one of the best-known Finnish artists in the world. "e year 2014, which marks the 100th anniversary of Tove´s birth, is another great opportunity to take a new look at her entire body of work.
2014 marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of Tove Jansson. !ere will be a number of festivities to honour and celebrate her art and life.
Tove Jansson wrote and illustrated nine novels, four picture books, and hundreds of comic strips about the Moomins.

!e Moomin comics were originally created by Tove and her brother Lars Jansson for !e Evening News in London. !e creative siblings produced the comic adventures for over 20 years, which was later syndicated to over 120 newspapers in 40 countries, reaching more than 20 million readers daily.
!e Canadian publisher Drawn & Quarterly are producing the collectible books with the original comic-strip adventures from the 1950s and onwards, which are once again attaining world-wide success.
