Instructions

• You will use this scavenger hunt to get to know the features of moodle and to get ready for your official course.

• Use the scavenger hunt worksheet from your email to record your answers.

• Proceed to the next slide. Have fun!

Log in

• Once you have come to the moodle main page, click login in the upper right hand corner.

• Type in the user name/password that I emailed to you and click login.

• If you lost your username/password, please email me.

Tips

• You can use the breadcrumb trail or navigation bar to move back and forth in the course.

• You can also use the drop down menu to jump to different parts of the course.

• In your scavenger hunt worksheet, write where the drop-down menu is located.

Profile

• Click on your name in the upper right corner.

• Edit your Profile. Include your email address. Write a short note indicating if you intend to add a photo or an avatar.

• Go back to the main page. What event is listed on June 30th?

• Write this event in your scavenger hunt worksheet.

• Under My Courses, click on Orientation Course.

Participants

• Who is in your class? Click on Participants.

• Note on your scavenger hunt worksheet the total number of students in the class and how many have a picture.

• Send an e-mail to me telling me the best days/times to contact you.

• Each time you open the course, you should check for important message in the News Forum and Latest News.

• Find the last news item posted, copy it, and paste it in your scavenger hunt worksheet.

• The modules in your course are posted under Topics.

• Note on your scavenger hunt the assignments for module 1.

Discussions • Go to the Discussions area of the

site.

• Post a biography to the Introductions forum so we can get to know each other.

• You can discuss your area of interest in school, your family, as well as any hobbies or special interests you may have.

• Please include your name in the subject line.

• Go to Activity #1 and click on the course overview.

• Read the course overview carefully and post a question in your blog.

• Note on your scavenger worksheet the 3 methods of communication available.

• Click on Practice Quiz

• Complete the practice quiz and submit

• Note when the quiz availability ends on your scavenger hunt worksheet

• Go to Resources and click the link to Moodle FAQ.

• What can you do if your topics have disappeared? Put your answer on your scavenger hunt worksheet.

• Click on Advanced Search.

• Scroll to the bottom to see the list of HELP files.
