Location

LocationThe location of the video is a big thing as it is what makes the genre what it is, for example a rap artist would most likely be in a sunny location whereas a rock/metal would most likely be set in a dark location. It is a key element to defining the music genre and also helps encourage the key genre stereotypes, so with a location you want it to be relatable to the song, you don’t want a location that doesn’t have anything relating to the story or the song what so ever, that would make the directors and production team look unprofessional and just choosing locations out of random. Alot of preparation goes into finding the perfect shooting shots for the music video to make the shots more effective than they would be with shots that don’t relate.

Character

CharacterThe character or characters are the main plot of any music video whether it be Concept, Narrative or Performance. There will always be a main character and that is where the music video is based around. Performance will mainly focus on the main characters (The Band) and then the side characters (Audience, Crew etc). Then with narrative there will be always be a main character and side characters and same goes with concept. Characters are what make the video what it is, without them the video wouldn’t be as good or even not possible to make, they are a key part in a music video and also a key part on who is chosen for the role and whether they are suitable for the role.

Cinematography

CinematographyCamera shots are key to making the perfect production and to making your video to professional standards. The shots need to be used with precisian and when used effectively, work wonders. This is why I have decided to use these shots in my video. These are very good shots and work really well.

Shots Chosen- Tracking- Panning- Point of View- Low/High Angle- Over the Shoulder

During pre production I will feature more effective shots but at the moment these are the ones that appeal to me and that I think will work well in my music video.
