• All of the photographs on the previous slide show objects, scenes and people that have something strange going on in the picture. This shows the element of discovery, which is the theme of this project. There is a technique being used or a non-traditional photographic method that has been used to make the image look interesting and imply the theme of discovery.

• One of my ideas for my photography project is to take photographs that look like there is something strange going on in the photo but it is unclear what, it just looks strange in some way. I want to make the photographs intriguing and give them an element of mystery. These photographs reflect what I would like to achieve if I were to follow this idea up and look at the theme of discovery in this way.

• The pictures on the previous slide use a high speed photography technique. This helps me to explore another one of my ideas. This idea for my project is to take images that discover exactly how something looks at a certain point in time e.g. when a rain droplet falls into the palm of a man’s hand. I want to capture how certain objects and surroundings look just as something happens.

• This idea links in with the theme of discovery because it I would like to discover exactly how something looks as it is happening at a frozen moment in time.

• This idea is that I would like to create a Hockney Joiner type of image that makes up a whole face. I would like to take closer up images of features and parts of people’s faces and then fit them all together to make one larger face.

• This shows the theme of discovery because it is discovering the different ways that people can look but also showing that in a way we are all the same.

• Another idea of mine is that I would like to base my project around the idea that things can look different in different ways e.g. perspectives. I think that there is a way that some people all see one thing, and that is the way that it was meant to be seen. However when you take the time and look at something a different way, it can be seen differently.

• This shows the theme of discovery because it is discovering how certain things can look in different ways. I am exploring and discovering the different ways that they look and can appear. I think that scanography could be used to do this quite well as it shows certain things in a totally different way to how they appear to people. I also think that out of focus photography could be used here, it shows things in different ways also.

• I would like to explore vortograph photography. I think that it is will show the theme of discovery well because the style of photography itself is intriguing and show a sense of mystery. Vortograph photography uses the technique of reflection and mirrors.

• I think that this type of photography would be good to comply with the theme of discovery because it shows a different approach to experimental photography. The images that taking vortograph images create are interesting and different; it is uncertain what the subject of the photograph is and so it makes people interested in it.

• I also think that this idea would be good for my photography experience because it is a different style that is not seen enough and I think that it would be good for my portfolio.

• The photographs on the previous slide have all been taking using the movement technique. They all show elements of movement but they also all show something stationary. I think that this contrast makes an interesting photograph.

• I would like to explore this technique as an idea for my project because I think that it links with the theme of discovery in an interesting way. The contrast of the stationary objects and the moving motion blur discovers how a place can change over a certain amount of time. It can also discover how a place would look if somebody stopped and looked at it whilst everybody else was still moving around them and they just watched the world go by.
