Horror, Romance and Comedy Genre
• Every film has a genre whether It is Horror, Romance
etc. This makes explains and shows what the style or
category is.
• Examples would include in a horror the setting may
be a haunted house, with a murderer and a
innocent couple that are trying to escape whereas
a romance could be a man trying to propose to his
wife but cant find the courage and correct time to
do it. A lot of the time Romance films are ‘Chick
flicks’. This means they appeal to females more
than males.
Camera Work/Cinematography
• The Camera work and Cinematography is what creates the film, Its all the camera and filming
techniques that puts our films together.
• The techniques include Close up shot, Medium shot, Establishing shot, Two shot, POV, Over the shoulder etc. A camera shot is the amount of space that is seen in one shot or frame. Camera shots are used to demonstrate different aspects of a film's setting, characters and themes. As a result, camera shots
are very important in shaping meaning in a film, for example in a horror film they may use a Extreme close up to show how the character Is feeling.
Characters• Movies tell stories about people. In every script, the writer
has to create one character or a set of characters that the audience will like or hate. This special character is known as the main character. Sometimes there will be
more than one main person but most of the time the film will revolve around that one person and show you every little detail you need to know to make the story realistic.
• There are hundreds of different characters you can create many are stereotyped. E.g., In a school there will be a head cheerleader who is everybody's role model within the school(the other girls), with a boyfriend that
everyone is jealous of and acts dumb for attention with blonde hair. Another example is when there a villain (The
Joker) there is always a hero (Batman).
Horror Genre• The horror genre of my opening title sequence will
be based on a action thriller film. Having a villain who only the audience knows about creating
dramatic irony towards the audience and making sure you can tell where the film is going to be set
by doing an establishing shot of where the location will be based.
• I will use low key lighting so that it creates the mood more serious and scary. Using a black and white
effect because I think this also helps show the audience what type of film this is by putting both of
these ideas together.
Romance and Chick flick Genre
• Romance or chick flick usually have the same
storylines whether it’s about a break up, marriage,
kids etc. The female gender is usually the target
audience for these genre of movies.
• Most Chick flick’s or romance films are based in
work areas, high schools or other places that a lot of
drama, love or shopping could happen and involve
a lot of bitchiness, men, alcohol or children.
