State law requires that a student between six and 18 attend school,
as well as any applicable accelerated instruction programs,
extended year program or tutorial session, unless the student is
otherwise excused from attendance or legally exempt.
LOSS OF CREDIT AND
DISCIPLINE
Students must be in attendance at least 90 percent of the days the class is offered in order to receive credit.
A student who is in attendance for at least 75 percent but less than 90 percent a class is offered may be given credit if the student completes a plan approved by the school’s principal that provides for the student to meet the instructional requirements of the class.
Parents and their student can be taken to court for 10 or more days within a six month period or three or more days or parts of days within a four week period.

What is a credit?
Credits are points earned toward graduation.
You need minimum 26 credits to graduate in designated areas.
How do you earn credits?
1. Pass your classes with a grade of 70 and above, AND
2. Satisfy attendance requirements – you must attend class 90% of the time.
How do you lose credit?
1. Absences – You can be absent no more than 9 days a semester (per class). On the 10th absence you lose credit whether absences are excused or unexcused.
2. Grades – You earn a grade of less than a 70 in a class.

If your child fails the 1st semester he/she must credit average with the 2nd semester.
1st semester = 50 2nd semester = 90
The 2nd semester grade must be at least a 70 or above to earn credit.
Top 10% RuleStudents in the top 10% of their
graduating class are eligible for automatic admission to any Texaspublic college or university. To be eligible you must:
