MISSION STATEMENT
Committed to Helping
Seniors
The Montmorency
County Commission on
Aging is patterned after
the Older Michiganian
Act. We are a not-for-
profit, non-sectarian, and
non-political
organization. The
purpose of MCCOA is to
coordinate and
implement public and
private programs that
promote and safeguard
the independence,
welfare, and dignity of
the senior citizens of
Montmorency County.
Please remember: The
MCCOA Snow Day
Cancellation Policy is
based on current weather
conditions. If schools are
closed due to weather,
that does not mean
MCCOA services are
cancelled. Clients and
meal attendees will be
notified if in-home
services or meals will not
be provided due to
weather.

MCCOA Staff Extensions
-
“Happy New
Years from
MCCOA
staff!”
I wanted to take this opportunity to summarize some of the programs, existing and
new, that the Montmorency County Commission on Aging offered in 2016. We have
assisted 434 clients during the year; providing a combined total of 44,990 hours/meals
through homemaking, personal care, respite, congregate meals, and home delivered
meals as well as many other services.
During the year we were fortunate to receive the support of our community to approve
an additional millage request that will allow us to continue the programs that we offer
and seek alternate means to provide safe, quality care to our seniors in Montmorency
County, allowing them to remain within their homes.
We have expanded our workforce to 32, both part and full-time staff. We are blessed
to have such a wonderful group of dedicated, caring and skilled employees who love
what they do and bring joy to our senior’s lives.
Another key component to MCCOA is the wonderful group of volunteers that we
have. They provide countless hours of assistance with medical transportation, tele-
phone reassurance calls, mobile food pantries, money counters at the senior centers to
name just a few. A special thank you to this group of people, you are the best!
We continue to seek ways to expand our services through fund raising efforts and
grant applications. This has allowed us to offer assistance for pet care, purchase of an
AED defibrillator unit in the office, updated kitchen equipment within the three senior
centers, establishment of a medication set-up program, purchase and delivery of emer-
gency shelf-stable food to homebound seniors, Thanksgiving baskets, and the safety
and mobility equipment loan program. There are so many ways to touch the lives of
seniors within our community and it is truly fulfilling.
In closing I would like to wish each of you a happy, healthy and prosperous New
Year!
