Dear Friends and Partners, August 31st 2015.
Greetings from Nepal!
Welcome to our monthly report – this time I am putting two
months (July and August) news together. A great thank you for
your regular prayer and support throughout the year and for the
special kindness we received recently in the disastrous situation of
Nepal. By your prayer and practical support we have been able to
assist many needy lives through our ongoing projects. I joyfully
share below the progress of our work.
Our recent time as a family in England was also a blessed one physically, spiritually and financially. It
was great to attend the conference ‘Revive’ with Ichthus and meet some of our friends. Having
family time and a chance to relax after the hectic time here in Nepal was incredible. It gave us rest
and an opportunity to plan things for the coming days away from the pressured circumstances at
home. Thanks to all of you who made our visit so special and to others who prayed for us even
though we didn’t meet in person.
1. Let’s start with news from our Children’s Home
Nine girls are doing well physically and have settled back in
to the house and their school after the frightening
earthquake. Their studies are going well and they have just
finished their second final exams. In both the first and
second terms, eight of them have passed their exams which
makes us proud and content. The eldest girl, Martha, has re-
taken her Math exam which
will open the door for her to
enter college in a couple of
months’ time. The Children’s
Home survived the
earthquake and consistent
aftershocks which are still
happening. Please pray for their continued safety. Our children enjoyed a workshop and fun park
activities recently, here are some pictures of that. Marianne from Switzerland visited us again and
stayed with our children for more than two weeks which
really blessed them. Their teacher Sabita is also working
hard to bring better school results for the children. The
House Parents and their family of four are also doing
well.
2. Scholarships

As you know, we have many child-related projects and one
of these is scholarship. Through this scheme we are
currently supporting 77 children from very poor economic backgrounds,
including some children of widows. Our field visits during the last two
months showed the following progress of the children: They are attending
school regularly; schools are trying to maintain the good environment
after the earthquake; children are still in shock but working hard as
parents and teachers are trying to support them; each one of them is
making progress in their study - praise God!; most of our children are in
good health apart from pain and trauma after losing relatives and
homes in the earthquake; parents are very aware of the value of their
children’s education and our support and regular visits have given them
the feeling of being loved and cared for. We are happy to tell you that now we are supporting 14
children from Sindhupalchok (the area worst hit by the earthquake) who are physically challenged.
We have 25 children on the waiting list for educational support.
A story of new life thanks to scholarship:
Ishori Rai, 45, grew up in a very remote village, two days bus travel
from Kathmandu. She got married and, soon after she became
pregnant, her husband started to drink heavily and became violent
towards her and, when she was born, to their little daughter.
Reluctant to continue suffer unjustly, Ishori gathered courage and
left him, taking her daughter, and stayed with her mother. Her
husband took another wife.
Ishori had four brothers and
two sisters who were
living in the same
village, but they didn’t take
care of her, her daughter
and her mother. She was compelled to live life with
challenge in every step. At 15 years of age, her daughter got
married due to their lack of finance and hardship of life, so Ishori and her mother moved to
Kathmandu with a desire to have a better life.
Ishori was illiterate so instead of life being easy in the city, it was hard for her. Lack of education led
to lack of a job and of every basic life support. By the Grace of God she came to know about Sabina
who has been working among single mothers and widows. She provides shelter, vocational training
such as tailoring, and encourages women to get an education. Meeting with Sabina became the
turning point in Ishori’s life. She joined a special school for ladies like her and is still continuing with
her studies now. Their curriculum is just like a normal school for children. Now Ishori can write her
name and do simple accounts. However, Ishori wasn’t able to pay the school fees, this is how ACC
came to know her. ACC is passionate about helping ladies like Ishori with their primary education and
we wish her all the best. Her progress is satisfactory and she is very proud to now be able to read the
Bible. She is very grateful to ACC for the scholarship.

Following the earthquake, Ishori lives together with her
mother in a newly built house of zinc sheets in Lalitpur
where she is working in a small farm owned by Sabina
which helps her financially. Very often, we easily
underestimate the little changes in a person’s life but they
can impact many lives around them. We are so pleased
to see these two ladies happy and being an example to
other suffering ladies.
3. Aanandit Dance Club
This Club has been serving the Lord through dance for two years, directly supporting underprivileged
children and in this short period of time, the
children have achieved so much. They are
learning new dance styles and taking part in
various competitions, and three boys have
got scholarships to the National
Academy which is a huge step for them.
4. Aanandit Football Club This ACC project is continuing to bless around 40
boys. We see good and bad times but, being carried by our faithful God, we
have been able to see many good things come from it. Our boys are playing in tournaments with a
few locals clubs and inter-church competitions. Wherever we go we are known as a Church football
team and these boys are really doing well in terms of letting people know about the church and its
reaching out to teenagers. The start of the rainy season
and not having our own ground, plus the recent
earthquake, made our team drift for some time but now
they are together again. We are hiring a playground for a
couple of hours every day to have our football practice
and to
engage our boys in good things. This is preventing
them from following bad peers and trying harmful
drugs. Most of our boys are from poor areas
where parents do not really care about their sons.
So, our love and attention has revealed to them
the love of Jesus for them. They are regularly
coming to church, please pray that those who do
not yet know Jesus will come to know God
intimately.

5. Friday Fun Club We just had a great time with our children teaching them God’s plan for their life
in the last couple of months. We had a blissful month with our Fun Club kids and we are very happy
as we are serving them in God’s kingdom. It is an incredible privilege to know these young people of
poor backgrounds whose lives are engulfed by the loving action of
our charity giving them sight of Jesus. Our recent singing
competition was well
accepted and resulted
in more children
coming to the music
class now. From July,
we have started to
run our Fun Club in
local schools. Last
month, we took it to
a Montessori-based school called Aliens School. One hundred children took part in our Fun Club
programme after school and they were really happy to be with us. They played games, learned Bible
based stories and were taught some beautiful crafts. We also taught dance to them which they
loved. We want to reach out to more schools in the coming days with such activities. It is an
opportunity to share about our work in an extended area.
6. Day Care Centre
We have had little ones joining and leaving us in the past few
months. Now we are serving 18 toddlers and a new maid, Soni
Magar, has joined our day
care team. Children
continue to be loved and
cared for by our staff and
they have a new open
space to play outside in
the church grounds. This
month we didn’t use it much because of the rain, but they
are blessed to have some freedom and safety. One little boy called Supress Tamang came as a mal-
nourished child and now our love, care and special prayer has
changed his life. He has started to eat properly and looks like a
new person. His mother is surprised to see this and is very
grateful to ACC. Improvements like this attract more children to
our care.

7. Micro-Business support/relief
We have recently taken on a new staff member to help with this project as our work is growing in
this area because many people are in need of support after the
earthquake. We plan to work in five districts of Nepal which were
most badly affected. Our team has travelled and collected 40 loan
applications from Dholkha alone.
There are still 30 to be collected.
In the past two months, we have
provided 12 loans in Lalitpur district. Our business support is
enabling poor families to
start their own small
scale businesses. People
are doing various things
such as pig farming, goat and buffalo rearing, vegetable
farming, running stationery shops, grocery, butchery and
tailoring. We believe this is helping to alleviate the spread
of poverty in this part of our nation.
8. Widow support and need-based support / relief
We have recently helped five families who were victims of
the earthquake to put roofs on their temporary houses
through our
need-based
support
project. We
also helped a pastor to pay for repairs to his bike
damaged during the earthquake, as this is vital to his
ministry work. We paid for medical care for a person
whose kidneys were both failing, and we provided
money for temporary shelter for the residents of an
elderly care home; it was so good to see them happy
with having a place for shelter in this rainy season.
9. Share and Care
We continue to provide sanitary pads and stationery to
teenage girls who possess few health items. We gave
two teaching classes, facilitated by a professional nurse
Marianne from Switzerland, about teenage life, healthy
6
living and staying safe from physical abuse. It was very good to
teach our girls how to stay safe in this stage of their lives, 18
teenage girls participated and asked some good questions
regarding the teaching.
10. School support/ relief work
We have provided school bags and exercise books to children in eight schools in Lalitpur, Dolkha and
Sindhupalchok, benefitting
1,000 students. Now we will
also be providing
scholarships in those areas
to children whose families
have lost their properties in
the earthquake and are
unable to pay for their education. As we have shared before, our relief work is continued under our
existing projects. Past two months we have been helping schools, taking children for scholarship,
planning and collecting form for small business support,
providing shelter
materials. We will
give detail report in
our annual report
produce in
November.
On 29th August, together with Aanandit church we
celebrated our eight year general assembly. Same day we had Aanandit church 13th year
anniversary. The entire program went very well with thirteen people taking baptism in the morning.
We six Aanandit congregation were together on this occasion giving thanks to our Heavenly Father
for His Faithfulness through out the journey. We are carrying a great vision of rebuilding the ruins
physically and spiritually in this nation and beyond- Isaiah 58: 11-12. Here are few GA photos:
