Chapelwood Foundation has supported Hashoo Foundation's work to empower communities through honey bee farming since 2011

With the support of Chapelwood

Foundation 123 Women and 29 Men

have been trained as beekeepers.

Honey produced and sold in markets

is more than 2,150 kg (4,752 lbs) till

date, this contributes to 471 children’s

access to education in Districts of

Skardu, Gilgit and Ghizer of Northern

Pakistan.

Beneficiaries supported by Chapelwood Foundation

Regional Office Lahore launched a one month cooking

course “THE RAMADAN CHEF” for local residents of

Lahore, especially women.

Orientation was held at Regional Office Lahore, on May

31, 2016, which was attended by 18 trainees. Mr. Javaid

Akhter - Sr. Regional Programs Manager shared his

remarks on the importance of this emerging field of

Hospitality. “Inception of this course is just a start, once

you get entered, this would envisage more avenues of

Culinary Arts” said Mr. Javaid.

Harmony through Revival of Cultural Practices

The Hashoo

Foundation project

Hosted a one

day “Spring Festival”

on Sunday 05 June,

2016. This event was

the district level in

Gilgit.

Gilgit city, the capital

and cultural hub of

GB, represents many

ethnic groups. Spring

for Economic

Empowerment of

Artisans and Sectarian

Harmony in Gilgit-

Baltistan and Chitral

(GBC)”,

festival was

enthusiastically

celebrated by

everyone. The

participation and local

ownership in this

festival is specially

import in light of the

recent acts of violence

based on sectarian

differences in the

region.

Numerous artists

from various districts

of GB performed in

the festival including

Ustad Jan Ali, also

known as “Father of

traditional music of

GB”, who had given

up his professional

engagements and

came to perform

specially at this event.

Ustad Shah Zaman,

(the Alun Faqir of GB)

on his flute.Besides the

performance of

legendary artists, the

festival provided an

opportunity to various

new and emerging

singers of GB to

perform and showcase

the culture and

heritage of the region.

Mr Jafar Ullah,

Deputy Speaker GB,

Provincial Assembly,

was the Chief Guest at

renowned musician

the occasion along

with other notables.

Inspired by this event,

he appreciated the

efforts of CKU and HF

in cultural promotion

and enhancing skills

of the local youth. He

announced that

Provincial

Government will

organize a cultural

festival in the exotic

valley of Naltar after

the month of

Ramadan to portray

the heritage of the

region at an

international level.

Haseeb Sultan Sohail, 25, who belongs to Islamabad, is a Duty Manager at Zaver Hotel Pearl Continental, Gwadar. He never thought of his present status until he got an opportunity of training at Hashoo

Foundation. Haseeb, an introvert by nature, found it difficult to socialize and make contacts. In early years he found it difficult to decide his career path and kept switching jobs.

His success journey started with the visit to a Five Star Hotel in Islamabad, he felt inspired & comforted by the hospitality culture there.

Haseeb joined Hashoo

Foundation training program of Hotel Management (HMTP) in Rawalpindi, as practical training he was assigned Room Division at Pearl Continental Hotel Bhurban (PCHB), Murree Hills.

After training he started working as a (GSO) Guest Services Officer in the same hotel. He Later on moved to Zaver Pearl Continental Gwadar and is now working

Basic Housekeeping,

Accommodation

Operation Services,

Professional Cooking

and Food Preparation

& Culinary Arts).

Classes of each trade

has started from June

9th in their respective

qualifications at

project office,

Rawalpindi.

Accommodation

Professional Cooking

and Food Preparation

& Culinary Arts).

Classes of each trade

has started from June

9th in their respective

qualifications at

project office,

Rawalpindi.
