247 Tractors, Machinery & Equipment – Auctioneers: James Morrish & David Kivell

Overall top call of the day was £14,100 for the New Holland tractor c/w trimmer in from Roger Stanbury of Rydon whilst Clifford Jordan of Landeast in Mid Cornwall topped his dispersal sale at £8,200 for his 1988 Ford tractor. The Case International ‘F reg’ attracted big interest both in the yard and online and sold to a highly respectable £7,200 going home with the Ketch family. Mr Stephens drove his sweet Ford 4610 up from Bere Ferrers near Tavistock and sold for £5,600 to newly based Holsworthy land owner Bradley Rickard.

A nice line up of Vintage tractors sold to a very strong trade with the Alice Chalmers ED40 which was purchased by a farming family in Marwood near Barnstaple through the Government’s farming improvement scheme in 1962 and has lived and worked on that same farm & family ever since. After some what of a bidding war between one Devon collector and one Cornish collector the tractor sold at £2,800 and stayed in Devon with the Ridges family. The David Brown 780 Selectamatic sold well at £2,750 for the Flack family of North Tawton whilst the Grey Fergie tractor in as part of the dispersal from Messrs Colebrook-Clark of Ashwater sold away well at £1,050. Just one Estate tractor on offer today sold to £4,500 for the Jimmy 25Hp c/w loader on behalf of Brian Gilbert of Callington.

Amongst other highlights was the Suzuki quad bike in from one farm in North Devon which powered away to £5,500 with the pick of the grain mills in from Ashwater hitting £4,000 and another at £3,500. Probably the highlight of the day was the Teagle rear charge dung spreader which raced away to £10,800 on behalf of Messrs Davies Partnership of Crediton in Mid Devon and went off to its new home near Okehampton on the side of Dartmoor.

The best of the hedge trimmers topped at £1,700 coming up from Truro whilst the pick of several flatbed trailers powered away to £1,300 on behalf of the Nicklen family. Several lots of harvesting equipment topped at £1200 for the Krone tedder on behalf of Nick Bibby-Jones of Tavistock with the Pottinger rake from Darren Hooper reaching £920.

The JCB generator pushed upwards to £500 as part of the dispersal from North Cornwall whilst a small equine dispersal topped at £500 for the ‘Spider’ horse cart in from West Devon.
