Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman was born in Madurai, Tamil Nadu. She obtained a BA in Economics at the Seethalakshmi Ramaswamy College in Tiruchirapalli. And her Master's degree in Economics from Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi. Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman joined the Bharatiya Janta Party in 2008 and has served as a spokesperson for the party. In 2014, she was inducted in Narendra Modi's cabinet as a junior minister. In May 2016, she was one of the 12 candidates nominated by the BJP to contest the Rajya th Sabha elections due on 11 June, 2016. She successfully rd contested her seat from Karnataka. On 3 September, 2017, she was elevated to Defence Minister, being only the second woman after Late Smt. Indira Gandhi to hold the Defence Minister post. Her priorities will definitely be the armed forces preparedness. It is important that the Indian armed forces receive the attention in terms of giving them every endowment and equipment necessary for them to perform their duty with the best of equipment available, - she has quoted this in a message after assuming charge. SHGC Bhopal celebrated the birthday of tenth Sikh th

Guru, Guru Gobind Singh on 5 Jan, 2018. Dr.

Charanjit Kaur, Principal, SHGC briefed students

about the life and work of Guruji, who was spiritual

master, warrior, poet and philosopher. He formally

installed as the leader of the Sikhs after his father

Guru Teg Bahadur beheaded for refusing other

religion. This programme charged the students to

rediscover their willpower to succeed in life.

A Guest Lecture was organized by the Department of Computer Science for the students of BCA I Year on Computer Fundamentals. The lecture was delivered by Mr. Suyash Shrishvastava (Appin

th thTechnology) from 15 to 17 Jan, 2018. The purpose of the lecture was to acquaint the

students with various aspects of Computer Fundamentals. The session went on by addressing the various topics like Networking, Connectors, Topologies, Communication Channels, Basic of Internet, Types of Communication etc.

the topic of “The Role of Sister Nivedita in Promoting Science Education”. The symposium was attended by

Honorable Rev. Siddh Bhauji, Chairman, SHKES; Shri Hero Gyanchandani, Managing Director, SHGC; Dr.

Charanjit Kaur, Principal, SHGC, Dr. N.P. Shukla, Adhyaksh, Vigyan Bharti, Central India Shri Ram Bhuvan Singh,

Prant Sah-Sanchalak, Swami Vivekananda Kendra; Shri Jayant Sahasrabuddhe, National Organizing Secretary,

VIBHA; & Dr. Anil Kothari, Vigyan Bharti; faculty members and students of SHGC.

The purpose of this symposium was to highlight, Sister Nivedita's immense contribution towards Indian

Freedom Movement, Art, Culture, Science and Women's Education.

A book on “Women Innovators” was also released on this occasion, comprising of contribution of various

eminent women personalities in different schemes.

Celebration of National Voter's

Day on 25th January, 2018

As per the directions of Department of Higher

Education, Govt. of Madhya Pradesh, Voters Pledge “to

uphold democratic traditions of our country and to vote

in every election fearlessly, without being influenced by

considerations of religion, race, caste, community,

language or any inducement” has been taken by all the

students during the morning assembly. Also the students

have been briefed about the importance of voting as

even a single vote makes the difference.
