I am Alexander Graham Bell. I am an eminent Scottish-born American scientist, inventor, engineer and innovator. I was born on March 3, 1847, in Edinburgh, Scotland. My major contribution to physics was the invention of the telephone. Although I developed many things, I am most recognized for the telephone. I had been working on a multiple telegraph in 1874 when I

developed the basic ideas for the "electrical speech machine," better known as the telephone.

I first became interested in the science of sound because both my mother and wife were deaf. My experiments in sound eventually let me to want to send

voice signals down a telegraph wire. I was able to get some funding and hire my famous assistant Thomas Watson and together we were able to come up

with the telephone. The first words spoken over the telephone were by me on March 10, 1876. They were "Mr. Watson, come here, I want to see you".

It turns out that other scientists had similar ideas. But I had to race to the patent office in order to get my patent in first. I was first and, as a result, me

and my investors had a valuable patent that would change the world. We formed the Bell Telephone Company in 1877. There have been many

mergers and name changes over the years, but this company is known today as AT&T.  Once again, I am Alexander Graham Bell. One of the renaissance

men who made important change in the methods of producing goods.
