1 yard Oolie panel, SB20210-310 • 2 strips 1 3/4" x WOF of yellow swirls from each long edge of the panel for strip sets (4 strips total) • 1 rectangle 21 1/2" x 26 3/4" from center motif • 6 squares 5 1/4" x 5 1/4" with a monkey centered in each square 1/4 yard yellow swirls, SB20053-310 • 4 strips 1 3/4" x WOF; trim to (2) 26 3/4" lengths and (2) 24" lengths for panel framing. 1 1/8 yards orange swirls, SB20103-450 • 6 strips 1" x WOF; cut into (2) 1" x 28 3/4" strips, (2) 1" x 23" strips, (12) 1" x 6 1/4" strips and (12) 1" x 5 1/4" strips. • 4 strips 2 1/8" x WOF; cut into (64) 2 1/8" squares, then cut in half diagonally to make 128 triangles. • 5 strips 3" x WOF for outer border 1/4 yard blue swirls, SB20053-930 • 4 strips 1 3/4" x WOF for blocks

Use remainder of strip for block strip set. • 5 strips 2 1/4" x WOF for binding. 1/2 yard green print, SB20186-830 • 2 strips 1 1/4" x WOF; cut into (2) 28 3/4" lengths. • 2 strips 1 1/2" x WOF; cut into (2) 23" lengths. • 4 strips 3/4" x WOF; cut into (12) 3/4" x 6 3/4" strips and (12) 3/4" x 6 1/4" strips. • 3 strips 1 3/4" x WOF; cut into (64) 1 3/4" squares. 7/8 yard white bees, SB20197-100 • 3 strips 1 3/4" x WOF; cut into (64) 1 3/4" squares. • 4 strips 2 1/8" x WOF; cut into (64) 2 1/8" squares, then cut in half diagonally to make 128 triangles. • 5 strips 1 1/2" x WOF for inner border 3 yards Oolie patchwork print, 20212-310 • 2 pieces 52" long for backing

Piecing the Blocks Note: Use a 1/4" seam allowance for all stitching.

1. Sew a 1 3/4" x WOF light blue strip lengthwise between (2) 1 3/4" x WOF yellow swirls strips to make a

strip set. Press seams toward the yellow strips. Repeat to make a second strip set. Crosscut the strip sets into (32) 1 3/4" A segments. 1 3/4" 1 3/4"

A Segments — Cut 32 B Segments — Cut 16

2. Stitch the remainder of the 1 3/4" x WOF brown strip lengthwise between (2) 1 3/4" x WOF blue strips to

make a strip set. Press seams toward the brown strip. Crosscut the strip set into (16) 1 3/4" B segments.

3. Sew a B segment between 2 A segments to make a 4 1/4" x 4 1/4" block center. Press seams toward the A segments. Repeat to make 16 block centers total.

Block Center — Make 16 4. Stitch a white bees triangle to a orange triangle to make a 1 3/4" triangle unit. Press seam toward the orange

triangle. Repeat to make 128 triangle units total.

Triangle Unit — Make 128 Side Unit — Make 64

5. Sew a triangle unit to opposite sides of a 1 3/4" green square to make a 1 3/4" x 4 1/4" side unit. Press seams toward the green square. Repeat to make 64 side units total.

6. Stitch a side unit to opposite sides of a block center to make the 4 1/4" x 6 3/4" center row. Press seams toward the block center. Sew a 1 3/4" white bees square to each end of 2 side units to make the 1 3/4" x 6 3/4" top/bottom rows. Press seams toward the white bees squares. Stitch the center row between the top and bottom rows to complete (1) 6 3/4" x 6 3/4" pieced block. Press seams toward the center row. Repeat to make 16 pieced blocks total.

Pieced Block — Make 16 Framed Block — Make 6

7. Sew a 1" x 5 1/4" orange strip to opposite sides of each 5 1/4" panel square and a 1" x 6 1/4" strip to the top and bottom. Press seams toward the strips. Stitch a 3/4" x 6 1/4" green strip to opposite sides of each framed square and a 3/4" x 6 3/4" strip to the top and bottom to complete (6) 6 3/4" x 6 3/4" framed blocks. Press seams toward the strips.

Completing the Quilt Note: Refer to the Exploded Quilt Diagram on the last page throughout the following steps.

1. Stitch a 1 3/4" x 26 3/4" yellow swirls strip to opposite sides of the panel rectangle and 1 3/4" x 24" strips to the top and bottom. Press seams toward the strips. Trim to 23" x 28 3/4" with the panel centered.

2. Sew a 1" x 28 3/4" orange strip and then a 1 1/4" x 28 3/4" green strip to opposite sides of the framed panel. Press seams toward the strips.

3. Stitch a 1" x 23" orange strip to a 1 1/2" x 23" green strip. Press seam toward the green strip. Add a 1 3/4" x 2" brown piece to each end of the pieced strip to complete the 2" x 25 1/2" top strip. Press seams toward the pieced strip. Repeat to make the bottom strip. Sew the strips to the top and bottom of the framed panel to complete the 25 1/2" x 31 3/4" panel center. Press seams toward the strips.

4. Join 2 pieced blocks, a framed block and then 2 pieced blocks to make a 6 3/4" x 31 3/4" vertical side row. Press seams to 1 side. Repeat to make a second side row. Sew the rows to the long sides of the panel center. Press seams toward the panel center.

5. Join 4 pieced blocks and add a framed block to each end to complete the 6 3/4" x 38" top row. Press seams toward the framed blocks. Repeat to make the bottom row. Stitch the rows to the top and bottom of the panel center. Press seams toward the panel center to complete the 38" x 44 1/4" quilt center.

6. Sew the 1 1/2" x WOF white bees strips short ends together to make a long strip. Press seams to 1 side. Cut into (2) 44 1/4" strips and (2) 40" strips. Stitch the longer strips to the long sides of the quilt center and the shorter strips to the top and bottom. Press seams toward the strips.

7. Stitch the 3" x WOF orange strips short ends together to make a long strip. Press seams to 1 side. Cut into (2) 46 1/4" strips and (2) 45" strips. Sew the longer strips to the long sides of the quilt center and the shorter strips to the top and bottom to complete the quilt top. Press seams toward the strips.

8. Remove the selvage edges from the 52" backing pieces. Join the pieces on the long edges with a 1/2" seam

allowance. Press seam open. Trim the top and bottom edges to make a 52" x 59" backing piece. The seam will be side to side on the back of the quilt.

9. Layer the quilt top and backing with a 52" x 59" batting piece. Quilt as desired and bind using your favorite methods and the brown binding strips to complete the quilt.
