MY GOAL

By the end of this series of lessons, my students will

know how to use a series of different online

applications that will better their understanding of

modern day financial management. Some of the

applications include, but are not limited to:

PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, QR Codes, Second Life,

and Podcasts. These applications not only will better

help them in the financial world, but will also give

them more proficiency with online programs to use for

their own purposes.

LESSON 1: HOW SCHOOL CAN IMPACT YOU

FINANCIALLY

For this first lesson, A.) My 11th grade class of students will review a Webquest on Zunal.com and learn the importance of understanding student loans. B.) They will do complete this assignment through following all the steps of the webquest, including the assigned worksheet. C.) Students have the day the project is assigned to complete it everything, and must have the questions turned in by the following day. D.) Students will complete this assignment within the given time frame with at least 80% accuracy.

LESSON 2: CAREERS

For the 2nd lesson, A.) Students will research a

career they may be interested in. B.) They will

describe and develop a PowerPoint presentation for

the class on their chosen career. C.) The

Powerpoint must contain all of the required

information requested, and give a speech along

with the presentation. D.) This must be completed

and presented by the end of the semester with at

least 75% accuracy.

LESSON 3: CREDIT

For my 3rd lesson, A.) Students will review the

given Podcast on credit and complete the

assignment attached with their parents. B.) When in

class the following day, there will be a group

discussion where all students must communicate

their research. C.) They will compare and contrast

what they previously thought credit was versus after

their family discussions with each other. D.) This

assignment must be completed with 100% as it is

participation based, and completed the same day.

LESSON 4: PHOTOSHOP DOLLAR TAXES

For the 4th assignment, A.) Students will create a

dollar bill template using the tutorial provided for

photoshop. B.) Students will then have a variety of

options to “purchase” with their photoshopped

money. C.) They will do this in an effort to replicate

the concept of taxes starting with sales tax. This

must be done with 100% accuracy as it is

participation based. This assignment will be

completed within 2 days.

LESSON 5: PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER

For my final assignment, A.) Students will create

Second Life account and experience working a

career and paying for things virtually. B.) This will

be completed via the Second Life Program pre-

installed onto a class set of computers. C.)

Students must take screenshots of their job, a sales

transaction, and their avatar. D.) This project will

take 2-3 days to complete and should be completed

with 100% accuracy.
