MONDAY JOURNAL We got up bright and early, loaded up the bus, and left for Buffalo Ridge. There we learned about wind turbines and how they produce energy. Minnesota is the only place in the whole world that has black blades on their turbines. Next we went to Pipestone National Monument. There we looked at all the rock formations and a few types of rocks. There we also saw a turkey protecting its nest. We learned about cross bedding, where each layer is deposited differently. Then we went to Devil’s Gulch, where we learned about the story of Jesse James, who jumped the gulch running away from the posse that was chasing them after they robbed the bank. Last, we came to our campsite, K.O.A.in Mitchell, SD, where we set up our tents and ate tacos in a bag for dinner. We’re having s’mores later; accompanied by Miranda Schmitt playing her accordion, along with both the Tyler’s playing their guitars.
