Once upon a time there lived a brave, kind knight called George. He used to travel across the vast country on his strong white horse. One day he was tired and weary from all of the travelling and decided to stop at a village.

When he stopped at the village he was alarmed to hear from the Villagers that a fierce, fire breathing dragon lived in the lake and he was terrorising their village. The villagers were extremely scared especially the girls as each day the dragon demanded that he got to eat one of the young beautiful girls.

The maidens were chosen by lottery and, that day the King’s kind and caring daughter was picked. The King was extremely upset but he knew there wasn’t anyone strong or brave enough in his village to stop the dragon.

Luckily, brave, kind George said that he was going to try and save the Princess by slaying the dragon. George was worried that he may be eaten by the dragon but he also knew he had been in many ferocious battles and wanted to try and help.

George went to the lake where the dragon lived. The dragon rose out of the water with a mighty roar! George wasn’t scared and he fought the dragon with all his strength and might until it was defeated. The princess was saved and the villagers were overjoyed! From that moment George was known as Saint George.
