We now know what happens in the story but we do not know who is behind the unfortunate events or what their motives are!

Task: You need to create a fact file based on the person who owns the shop and is responsible for capturing so many

children.Draw and label what you think

the shopkeeper looks like.You then need to include:

• A name (make it mysterious, maybe even intimidating)

• Where they come from (Is it the shop? Is it somewhere else?

• Family history (Do they have a dark family secret?)

• A detailed character description (appearance, personality and actions)

• A motive for his/her actions (Why do they do it? How does it benefit them?)

Remember to include from last week:

• Ambitious vocabulary – synonyms for words like scary

• Expanded noun phrase using pre-modifiers (adjectives) and post-modifiers (using with and relative clauses)

• Figurative language (similes, metaphors and personification)

Why did the shopkeeper want to capture everyone?

What reasons could there be?

Could something have happened to him?

Could he be doing it for good reasons?

Does he dislike children? How does it benefit him?
