1. Reading activity
This is on the next
slide. Read the text
then answer the
questions.
2. Writing task
Would you make a good knight?
I think I would make a good
knight because ………
Say this sentence with as many different endings as you can think of.
Look at this advert asking for
people to become knights.
I think you would make a great
knight and should apply for
the job!
First, let’s think about why you
would make a good knight.
We can use some conjunctions to give reasons.
I would like to be a knight
because I want to help defend
the king and queen.
I know I am good at jousting as I
always win the jousting
competitions at school!
I am very friendly so will get on
well with the other knights.
Have a look at each of the requirements on the advert. How can you show that
you meet those requirements?
Practise saying some sentences using cause conjunctions, e.g.
I know I am good at following instructions because my teacher is always impressed with my behaviour
at school.
Now it’s time to write your
letter to apply to become a
knight!
Look at the next slide for an
example. Can you spot all
the cause conjunctions?
Dear National Knights Organisation,
I would like to apply for a job as a knight. I have written some reasons why I think I would be a good knight.
I am very fit because I ride my bike every day. I really like horses as they are such beautiful, powerful animals. I am willing to have lots of training so that I become the best knight in the world! My teacher will tell you that I am very good at following instructions because I always listen to her.
I hope you write back to me soon. I really want to be a knight because it would be such a fun job!
Love from Kenny
Start by saying who the letter is
for.
Write two sentences to explain
what your letter will be about.
This is your main section. Use
all the sentences you practised
saying, giving reasons why you
would make a good knight.
Make sure your last sentence is
really exciting and makes the
reader believe that you want to
be a knight.
Don’t forget to write your name
at the end!
Now it’s your turn to write your letter!
Well done! How did you get on today?
