CELAS MONASTERY
The Monastery of Celas, formerly known as the Monastery of Santa Maria de Celas, is located in the parish of Santo António dos Olivais.
The Monastery was founded by Sancha, the daughter of King Sancho I in 1213. To keep up with the growth of the religious community the convent was expanded.
The church was completed in 1529 and was restored during the 16th and 17th centuries.It has been classified as a National Monument.
