MORE INFORMATIONAll taxpayers are entitled to tax reliefs, but rules and calculations may apply according to your family situation and income.

Provincial: it is a tax credit ranging between 26% and 75% of the amount paid for childcare. The percentage is based on family income.

Federal: it is a deduction of the fees paid from on the lowest income of the parents. The amount paid for childcare lowers the income and therefore lowers taxes paid on the equivalent of the amount of childcare expenses.

On February 28 at the latest, following the summer when the fees have been paid, we will issue a statement for child care costs (Relevé 24) which you will be able to print from your registration file for your provincial and federal tax returns.

This information, based on the 2018 tax data, is meant to briefly explain how deductions work and are for illustrative purposes only. As family situations vary, please contact a professional or refer to the documentation provided by both governments for full details.

Please take a few minutes to discuss it further with your child and never hesitate to talk to his or her counselor if needed.
