Introduction Letter from Producers…

There are three primary goals of this exhibition… To rekindle the history and accomplishments of African American athletes in the Olympics To provide in-depth knowledge of the social, political, historical and economic implications from the athletes involvement in the Games To commemorate. The final objective of the exhibit is to preserve and commemorate tacit knowledge of the African American presence in the Olympics

In 2006 Oliver/Bahati Agency in conjunction with California African American Museum produced The Black Olympian Continuing exhibit which was a enormous success as part of an 20th year celebration of the museum in Los Angeles.

EXHIBIT BACKGROUND

Through a special partnership with LA 84 Foundation and other partners the exhibit will include the following components; Rare Photos, Multimedia Presentations, Interactive Olympic athletic displays, Memorabilia, a special Virtual Reality-Experience and hosting of “Streaming Parties” of the specific Olympic events on big screens and much more…

Museum - Educational Outreach Program through LA City Libraries & other partners

“TIME-TRAVEL” VIRTUAL REALITY EXPERIENCE …Imagine yourself stepping back in-time to Nazi Germany and the Olympic Games of 1936…what would that experience feel like? A component of the exhibit will allow visitors to experience time-travel through Virtual Reality (VR). Our partner Middle Passage Productions under the direction of Barbara E. Allen, a John S. Knight Fellow at Stanford University where she developed VR content, will create the special VR component for the exhibit that allow visitors to time travel through Olympic history.

BEYOND THE WALLS Beyond the Walls of the Museum, is a specially designed program component that extends the exhibition’s impact by, educating and inspiring a vast and diverse audience. As a sponsor, the company will enjoy positive exposure through education outreach programs beyond the Museum through partnership with LA Public Library and partners focused towards general public, families, schools, teachers, and students of all ages

Inspiration is being planned- including; multimedia presentations, displays, images, memorabilia, and VR-experience will travel between 3-6 selected markets throughout the U.S.

Budget The cost of the exhibit will be largely dependent on the extent of its structure and content. It would therefore be preemptive to speculate on an exact budget at this point. However, primary costs will be accrued in the following major areas.
