John Butler
A native of Edmonton, Alberta, John Butler is a graduate of the University of Alberta where he completed a Master of Music Degree. Studies also took him to the Juilliard School of Music and the Akademie Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria. On his return to Canada he settled in St. Catharines, Ontario where he continues to live, and where he has taught at both Ridley College and Brock University. Besides teaching he has been involved in solo and ensemble piano performance, musical theatre direction, and church music, which includes choral composition for his choir at historic St. George’s Anglican Church, which has had a tradition of fine choral music since 1791, and where he has been the organist and choirmaster for 20 years.
