ISTE :The inaugural function of the Faculty Induction Programme was held on 31/07/2017. The

Chief Guest, Dr. K. U Kartha inaugurated the function and delivered the inaugural and keynote

address. A session on “Teaching Method” was handled by Dr S Sheela. On 01/08/2017, the

sessions were handled by Ms Sangeetha on “Communicative English”. On 02/08/2017, there was

a session on “Responsibilities of Teachers” handled by Dr. Ashalatha Thampuran.

ELIXIR – 2017 (Association of Department of BT&BCE) and IIChE, MCET

Student Chapter were inaugurated by Dr. S. Easwaran, Academic Director,

Biocon, Bangalore on 5th

August 2017, 1pm at CGPC Hall , MCET,

ANAD.Welcome Speech and introduction of the Chief Guest were delivered by

Prof. S Alwan, HOD, BT&BCE. The Presidential address was given by Dr.

Ashalatha Thampuran, Director, MCET. Then Dr. S Sheela, Principal, MCET

addressed the gathering. Dr. S. Easwaran gave a session on the prospects of

Biotechnology in India and there was an interactive session with the students.

Felicitation speech was given by Shri. Praveen Kumar Solasa, Honourable

Secretary of IIChE, TVRC. The Joint Secretary of IIChE, TVRC Shri.

Somanathan S was also present during the occasion. Vote of thanks was given by

Mr. Gokul Kesav (Secretary, ELIXIR). An open quiz was also organised.

Techsynod’17 -Mohandas College of Engineering & Technology, Anad conducted Techsynod’17 a national conference

and workshop jointly organized by Departments of Mechanical and Biotechnology and Biochemical Engg on the topic

“Advances in Bio-Energy and Bio- Materials” and “Advances in Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronics” from 19th to

21stDecember 2017. The event was inaugurated by Sri. Sam Dayala Dev, Director, Inertial Systems unit of ISRO on

20th December ,2017 at 10.30 AM. Sri. G. Mohandas, Chairman (VNGP Trust) addressed the gathering and handed over the proceedings of the event to the chief guest. Smt. Rani Mohandas, Secretary (VNGP Trust) handed over the memento

to the Chief Guest. Eminent personalities from various institutions like VSSC, LPSC, IIT’s delivered lectures and

faculties and students of various institutions presented papers in the conference. The event was sponsored by CSIR,

ISRO, DRDO and KSCSTE

COLLOQUIUM 2017 – Mohandas College of Engineering and Technology, Anad,

Thiruvananthapuram has conducted the National Seminar, COLLOQUIUM 2017 related to Science

and Technology and was inaugurated Dr. Suresh Das Director, NIIST, Trivandrum on 07.04.2017.

Dr. Ashalatha Thampuran, Director MCET presided the inaugural function. Dr. Sheela .S Principal

MCET delivered the welcome speech. Shri. G. Mohandas, Chairman MCET and Smt. Rani

Mohandas, Secretary VNGP trust felicitated the programme. Dr. Lathika B S had given the Vote of

Thanks. It was followed by a key note address by Shri. S. Somanath (Director, LPSC, ISRO)

ILLUMINATI 2k17

Illuminati 2k17 was conducted on 27th and 28th October 2017. The event was inaugurated by

famous dancer Smt. Medhil Devika. Chairman Sri.G.Mohandas, Secretary Smt.Rani Mohansdas,

Director. Smt Ashalatha Thampuran, Principal Smt. S.Sheela addressed the gathering. There were

many events like choreonite, Burlesque, Mr.and Mrs Illuminati, Treasure Hunt etc and more than 1.5

lakhs prize money were distributed. Students from various colleges from all over kerala participated

in the event. As part of Illuminati musical night by famous band “Masala Coffee was also conducted

on 28th evening.

Principal, MCET addressed the audience. Dr.Jayaprakash P, HOD, Dept of CSE gave a

welcome address to all dignitaries and Prof. Tomy Thomas, has felicitated the event.

Mr.Joshen Bennet, Secretary ACES presented the academic year (2017-2018) activity plan.

PRABANDH’17, the National conference on “Recent Advances in Computer science and Engineering, Applied Electronics and Power Engineering” was held for 2 days from 19 th to 20th April, 2017. The conference was inaugurated by Dr. Jayasankar Prasad, Director ICFOSS on 19th April 2017 in the presence of Smt. Rani Mohandas, Secretary, VNGP Trust, the Director Dr. Ashalatha Thampuran and Principal Dr. S. Sheela. Many distinguished personalities from

various fields of Computer Science & Engineering, Applied Electronics and Power Engineering like Mr. Mahendramurali, Group Head, PPEG – Program Planning and Evaluation Group from VSSC and Engineers from C-DAC were present in the inaugural function. The inaugural session was followed by key note speeches and technical sessions of the three streams of Computer Science, Applied Electronics and Power Engineering in three different venues in parallel after the inaugural function.

Professional activities ETERJA-The activities of ETERJA for this year commenced with the

inaugural ceremony conducted on 25th August 2017. The event was

inaugurated by Ajith Gopi, Programme Officer, ANERT and delivered a

talk on “Green Energy”. The activities of ETERJA’17 also conducted

various competitions such as paper presentation, debate, Tech-charades,

beyond the scrap, group discussion, situation management, quiz etc and

prizes were distributed on the inaugural day. Special appreciation award

were given to Nikhil of S7EEE and Rahul of S5 EEE for their immense

contribution to conduct the event.
