manage projects request and interpret project reports in order to provide status reports and

track progress and performance against budget and schedule identify the key systems and their interfaces (information flows) to enable

effective project management identify, assess and select Project Delivery Systems for specific projects

and be familiar with the functions of these tools explain the functionality of the function specific tools selected by

WorleyParsons to improve the efficiency of project execution and communicate this information to the project team

consult with the location systems support personnel and where required with the Global Project and Improve Systems (PAIS) and Engineering Systems (ES) groups to set-up and configure the project delivery tool(s) for a specific project.

WorleyParsons Strategy

WorleyParsons Executive Committee (Exco) has endorsed the rollout of a consistent set of processes.

• WPMP: WorleyParsons Project Management Process – the WorleyParsons framework for project execution.

• EMS: Enterprise Management System – repository of standard workflows, procedures and templates.

Factors that determine choice of tools from WorleyParsons’ suite include:

• type of services

• size of project

• complexity of transactions and data to be managed

Use of standard tool kit will be the most economical and efficient outcome

Customers may have their preferences but any change to the standard tool kit to satisfy customer preferences will have cost and schedule penalties


As a Project Manager you will need to know :

what tools to use for different types of projects

what tools to use to complete different functions

how information flows between the tools so that you can use them effectively to manage and control each project

how to work with the systems support personnel to set-up and configure the project delivery tools for each project.

Aids in the preparation of major capital cost estimates.

An Excel add-in that allows users to perform simulations and is typically used in the Evaluate, Define and Execute phases of a project for risk analysis.

Proven templates and reports – able to be shared between specialists in all WorleyParsons locations. An estimator can assess the likelihood of various best and worst case project budget scenarios.

Uses Monte Carlo-based simulation to run many possible outcomes.

What are the benefits of @Risk ? Adds advanced modelling and risk analysis to Microsoft excel by

allowing:

What are the Key Success Factors for successful execution of Engineering Design Systems on a project?

1) Get on to systems set-up early and with some priority – it will pay off!.

2) Engage support groups – do not wait until there is an issue

3) Review the status and application of checking and verification processes regularly

4) Make sure actions from Model Reviews are addressed and closed out

5) If team members suggest system improvements (including project specific reporting), arrange to review the suggestions with your group and the EDS team

6) Ensure MTO development is controlled – on larger projects you may need someone in your team to coordinate this activity

7) Review model progress regularly with your team – don’t wait for the formal reviews

IMPROVE PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT TOOLS

Improve Operating Platform (IOP)

Comprises a generic set of methodologies and systems within a defined framework, for the delivery of a portfolio of projects within an Improve Contract.

Based on the WorleyParsons Corporate Standards of the EMS and WPMP, which have been tailored specifically for Improve Contracts.

Put another way, the IOP is essentially a “user front end” for EMS, WPMP and other systems.

Represents what has previously been known as a Contract Execution Plan or Contract Operating Manual.

What does IOP do?


What are the benefits of IOP? The IOP has been developed to support the execution of a portfolio of

smaller projects (< than US$10 million TIC or < than $1 million WorleyParsons contract value), and will also support ‘nano’ projects (< $100K TIC or less than $10K WorleyParsons contract value).

Addresses both Content and Structure

The Generic IOP will be accessible to WorleyParsons personnel with task sheets stored in EMS. This will ensure that Worleyparsons Process Improvements will be passed on to Improve customers on an ongoing basis.

Will incorporate best practice solutions from existing Improve Contracts thus enhancing standard WorleyParsons Systems and Procedures.

Can be functional at an effective level on (i) WorleyParsons (ii) ‘neutral’ (non WP, non Customer) (iii) Customer systems environments.

Available for all existing and new Improve Contracts in order to ensure consistency in use of systems and processes while catering for customer specific needs.


CUSTOMER SYSTEMS

Customer Systems

Customer Systems are important because very often WorleyParsons will be requested to interface with these systems.

The interfaces may be required on an ongoing basis, on agreed frequencies or at the end of the project.

Examples of these interfaces are:• Ongoing downloads of Purchase Order commitments into

customer ERP System, as and when Purchase Orders are placed in the WorleyParsons Procurement system

• Weekly timesheet downloads into customer ERP system

• Weekly cost commitment data into customer ERP system

• Handover of completed Documents and Intelligent Data into the customer ERP system or Document Management system


SELECTING AND ACCESSING TOOLS

The appropriate tool(s) will vary according:

• Project size (Major, Minor, Miscellaneous)

• Project phase (Identify, Evaluate, Define, Execute, Operate)

• Scope of service (Engineering, E&P, PMC, EPCM, EPC, Improve)

• Customer Requirements etc.

Work closely with the Project and Improve Systems (PAIS), Engineering Systems (ES) and Engineering Data Management Systems (EDM) Groups to select & configure the systems for your project.

ESTIMATING Description

Aspen Capital Cost Estimator (ACCE) Used in the development of large grass-root projects’ to generate Class 1 (Order of Magnitude) and Class 2 (Screening) estimates. * Identify & Evaluate phases only

Quest Used to estimate Class 2 (Screening), Class 3 (Control) & Class 4 (Definitive) Capital Cost estimates.

@RISK Used for performing quantitative cost risk analysis using the Monte Carlo Simulation model which gives an information rich and accurate representation of potential risk exposures.

PROJECT CONTROLS Description

InControl Used for the management and control of scope, budget, progress, forecasting and cash flow. Predominantly deployed for engineering/services contracts on standalone projects and portfolio scopes of work.

PREDICTION+ PCS Used for the management and control of scope, budget, progress, forecasting and cash flow for standalone EPC/EPCM projects and portfolio scopes and where the customer requires Total Installed Cost (TIC) management.

PLANNING Description

Primavera P6 Used for the development and management of all project schedules through the project lifecycle. Has an extensive range of functionality, some of which are, logic based networking, critical path analysis, resource scheduling and import/export capabilities.

Primavera Risk Used to provide quantitative evaluation of full project life-cycle risks associated with uncertainty in schedule.

PROCUREMENT Description

SmartPlant Materials (SPM) Used for material management work flow from preliminary design through to detailed engineering and purchasing to construction by providing a common collaboration platform and workbench for all stakeholders involved in the supply chain management.

CONTRACTS Description

Contract Administration Management System (CAMS) Used to manage contract formation via standard or imported terms and conditions and the administration cycle including; amendments, progress, claims, back charges, reporting and compliance.

CONSTRUCTION Description

PREDICTION+ JCS

Used to provide real-time management of the fabrication, construction and commissioning phases of the projects or programme/portfolio works via Work Packs & Job Cards.

COMPLETIONS Description

Completions Management Tool (CMT)

Used to generate scope and control the data, information and documentation necessary to successfully manage the field commissioning activities in turn supporting the seamless start up on projects.

IMPROVE Description

Improve Operating Platform (IOP) Used to provide projects with a flexible and customisable operating framework that highlights and allows easy access to WorleyParsons and Customer processes, systems and people. Utilises the Microsoft SharePoint platform for successful delivery of a portfolio of projects.
