Integration OT


“INTEGRATION” refers to functionally connecting the OR environment. This includes patientinformation, audio, video, surgical lights and room lights, building automation (HVAC), and medicalequipment. Users can easily route A/V sources and effectively control surgical equipment. Whenintegrated, all technology can be manipulated from a central command console by one operator.

In an I-OR, cords and cables run inside the articulating arms of ceiling-mounted lights and booms through conduits in the ceiling. Ideally, there are no cords or cables on the floor to trip on or roll a cart over.

QUALITY: The steel Pre-fabricated Panel or Corian Joint-less Surface Systemprovides a standard of finish far higher than can be achieved with conventionalconstruction.

DURABILITY: The all steel construction is far more durable than brick orplasterboard walls. Plaster finishes become brittle and crack, are susceptible to


plasterboard walls. Plaster finishes become brittle and crack, are susceptible tobuilding movement and the surface can be broken by impact from trolleys andequipment. Steel is virtually indestructible and will flex under impact or underbuilding movement.

FLEXIBILITY: The structural steel frame of the theatre and the steel wall andceiling panels make addition of equipment at a later date a simple half-day operationthat does not cause noise or dust. Thus avoiding the prolonged theatre close downsusually required when fitting new equipment into old conventionally built theatres.



SHAPE: The octagonal shape of the Operating room, which is difficult to construct withconventional building methods, has many advantages: easier to keep clean as there are noacute angles, no "dead" corners from an air movement point of view and better lightdiffusion due to reflection of the angled corners, the octagonal shape reduces wastedspace, as the corners of rectangular theatres are not normally used, better access as thereare 8 walls that can be used to fit doors.

SPEED: Pre-fabricated components reduce site time, in a critical area of construction,thus reducing overall project time.


MAINTENANCE: Modular theatres are designed for ease of maintenance. Littlemaintenance is required, and this can be carried out from outside the theatre, withoutdisruption. The wall finish will last for approximately 15 years, and can then be re-appliedin 4 days.
