See how Hamilton Sorter’s Modular Casework stacks up against traditional Millwork in “Casework vs. Millwork - The Battle of the Works”.
Warranty
Casework
Hamilton Sorter Casework offers a
Limited Lifetime Warranty.
Millwork
90 Days – 1 Year.
Modularity
Casework
Floor cabinets are set in place and wall
cabinets are hung on wall with rail
mounting system. This method of
installation allows cabinets to be re-
configured with little to no disruption to the
building.
Cam and Pin assembly allows for
individual cabinets to be changed and
also to be repaired on-site.
Foot levelers are standard on all Hamilton
Sorter bases.
Millwork
Cabinets are ganged together and
blocking is necessary. Cabinets are
permanently anchored to building.
Wood shims are used to level cabinets
on-site.
Consistent Quality
Casework
Manufactured product produced on CNC
equipment in a state of the art facility
located in Fairfield, Ohio.
Millwork
Manufacturing and construction standards
vary from millworker to millworker
resulting in inconsistent product quality.
Board
Casework
Hamilton Sorter uses a ¾” thick multi-
density board that is ANSI-M2 rated.
Each board is finished on all sides with
the same grade of laminate leaving no
exposed wood. A 2 mm PVC edge band
covers all edges.
Millwork
Millwork traditionally uses a ½” thick
particle board and only finishes exposed
surfaces. Frequently, ¼” filler boards will
be used on cabinet backs and drawer
bottoms.
Cabinets are typically finished with LPL
interior with an HPL exterior. A self-
adhesive edge band is used only on
exposed edges.
Finishes
Casework
Standard Laminate Offering: HPL
Laminates, LPL Laminates, Melamine or
Thermofoil.
Millwork
Thermofoil is not a typical standard.
Design
Casework
Hamilton Sorter has complete custom
capabilities and a design team that will
help design and specify product to ensure
integrity of design from concept to
installation.
Plans are designed in AutoCAD and Revit
Autodesk and archived so that additions
or reproductions may be handled with
ease.
Millwork
Architects and Designers are responsible
for creating design and specifications. In
some circumstances millworkers will take
liberty with original design to cut costs.
Additions or reproductions are often not
an option because the millworker does
not maintain a relationship with the end
user after the installation.
Installation
Casework
Cabinets are delivered completely
assembled and set in place. Installation
time is drastically reduced.
Millwork
Typically built on-site which results in a
longer installation time.
Green
Casework
GREENGUARD Children & Schools
Certified and contains 95% recycled and
recovered postindustrial/pre-consumer
waste.
Meet and exceed requirements for LEED-
CI and LEED for Schools.
FSC Certification is available.
Millwork
Materials and construction vary from
millworker to millworker. In the event of
change or renovation, the millwork
generally ends up in a landfill.
Depreciation
Casework
7 year MACRS rules.
Millwork
31 years.
