Forests are a renewable resource and an important component of environment. Forests provide a good habitat to a large number of plants and animals. Forests play a significant role in soil conservation and prevention of floods. But human activities have cut down a long tract of forests which has led to an increase in amount of runoff and leaching nutrients.Installation of new industries, construction of roads etc. are the ever-increasingdemands of the evergrowing population. This will not only led deforestation but also endanger wildlife.

OCEAN life in the form of plants, animals and micro-organisms is found in the vast expenses of salty water. Dissolved oxygen in water enables plants and animals to live in oceans. Oceans are highly productive. About 130 billion tons of food every year in the world is produced by oceans. Human activities such as discharging toxic effluents from factories, poorly treated sewage, crude oil spilled at sea and other several pollutants have caused danger to the marine life.

The adverse effects of human activities on environment result from the irrational and injudicious use of natural wealth. Reckless consumption leads to depletion of natural resources, loss of greenery, degradation of soil fertility and shortage of potable water. Natural resources, if used wisely, can raise the quality of life of the present generation without much wastage.
