125 countries to see equipment and technology solutions that are key to

their future productivity and profitability. Once again, the MHI-sponsored

show was collocated with Automate 2013.

visitors included key decision makers in virtually all manufacturing, logistics,

distribution and supply chain industries, including a majority of the Fortune 1000 and

Top 100 Retailers. Statistics confirmed the high quality of attendees—85 percent said

they had buying authority and 34 percent planned on spending $1 million or more over

the next 18 months on equipment and systems. Reflecting the growing global nature

of ProMat, the Department of Commerce International Buyer Program Select event

welcomed attendees and exhibitors from six continents to its show floor, educational

conference and busy International visitors Center.

More than 9,460 people attended ProMat 2013 educational conference sessions, which

included three keynotes featuring Dr. Henrik Christensen of Georgia Tech, Steve Forbes

and Futurist Edie Weiner. The conference also included educational tracks from the

Association for Automatic Identification and Mobility (AIM), the Council of Supply Chain

Management Professionals (CSCMP) and the National Institute for Occupational Safety

and Health (NIOSH) as well as show floor educational sessions on a variety of topics.

The first-ever ProMat Innovation Award was awarded to Packsize LLC for best new

innovation and to FOX Iv Technologies, Inc. for best innovation of an existing product.

In addition, the ProMat 2013 Classroom Day introduced students and educators to

career opportunities in material handling, supply chain and logistics.

PUTTING PROMAT TO WORk BACk HOMEPrior to ProMat 2013, attendees were

encouraged to plan their strategies and

prepare proposals to secure approval to

attend. They were encouraged to bring

the experience full circle by following up

with their direct supervisors after returning

from ProMat 2013. By mapping what

they learned to their original proposals

and goals, then showing how they would

implement their new knowledge, attendees

are showing their companies exactly

how worthwhile it is to go to ProMat

and to work directly with exhibitors who

participate in the event.
