Before First Use
Beforeusingtheapplianceforthefirsttime,orfollowingperiodsofprolongedstorage,itisnecessarytocleantheappliancethoroughly.SeetheCleaningsection.Beforeswitchingon,makesurethatthevoltageofyourelectricitysupplyisthesameasthatindicatedontheratingplate.
Using your Coffee Grinder
1.LifttheHopperLidofftheHopper.PlacethedesiredquantityofcoffeebeansintotheHopper,upto80g.Replacethelid.
2.TheGrindingControlWheelontheleftoftheapplianceismarkedinincrementsof2andhas17settingstotal.Forcoarselygroundbeans,turnthewheelto1.Thehigherthesetting,thefinerthegrind.(SeeHelpfulHintsonpage7forrecommendationsonthecorrectgrindsforthebrewprocessyou’llbeusing).
3.EnsurethattheCoffeeGroundBinisfullysnappedintothegrinder.Pluginthegrinder.4.TurnthefrontQuantityControlDialtotherequiredsetting.Forinstance,ifthedialisset
to12,itwillgrindenoughcoffeetoserveapproximately12cups.Thisshouldbeusedasaguideonly,asitwillvarydependinguponpreferredtaste,typeandroastofbeanandthegrindselected.
5.OnceyouhaveboththeGrindingControlWheelandtheQuantityControlDialset,presstheOnButtontostartthegrinder.Thegrinderwillstopautomaticallyafterthesettime.YoucanalsopresstheOnButtonatanytimetostopit.Afteruse,theappliancemustbeunplugged.
6.RemovetheCoffeeGroundBinandusethegroundsasyoudesire.

5.OncetheHopperLidisremovedandthegrinderisunplugged,youcancleanthegrindheadfreeofanyremainingcoffeegrindsbyusingtheincludedCleaningBrush.

•TheChefmanElectricBurrCoffeeGrinderisfullyautomatic.Selectthecorrectgrindforthebrewprocessyouplanonusingthegrindsfor:espresso,automaticdrip,orFrenchpress.Thereare17grindsettingsavailable.RotatetheGrindControlWheeltohighernumberstoselectfinegrindandtolowernumbersforcoarsegrind,17beingthefinestand1beingthecoarsest.
•Selectfinegrindforespresso(rotateGrindControlWheeltotheleft),mediumgrindfordripmakersandcoarsegrindforFrenchpressorpercolator.
•Theactualgrindsizeforaparticularsettingwillvarydependingonmanyfactors,including:degreeofroast(lightvs.dark),freshness,humidity,typeofbean,oilcontent,etc.Withuse,youwilldiscoverwhichsettingbestmeetsyourtaste,brewingstyleandotherpersonalcoffee-makingpreferences.
•Foroptimumfreshnessofyourcoffeebeans,doNOTstoreinthebeanHopperortheGroundCoffeeBinforextendedperiodsoftime.
•Toavoidoverheatingthemotor,donotgrindmorethantwofullwholebeanHoppersortwofull12-cupcycleswithoutabreak.Allowthemotortocoolatleasttwominutesbetweencycles.
•TheHopperLidandGroundCoffeeBinmustalwaysbeinplacewhenusingthisappliance.
