Converting Gen 6.5 Models to Gen 7.6 Models1. To access the 7.6 host encyclopedia execute the new 7.6 CLIST; ‘GEN’, at the TSO READY prompt. If the 6.5 CLIST (EX 'SYSPCOOL.GEN.CLIST(V65)') has already been executed you’ll need to log off and log back on. If the 6.5 CLIST automatically executes when you log on, the automatic execution of the CLIST will need to be removed. To determine if the 6.5 CLIST is automatically executed on the mainframe, select option =E.1.2 – if the ‘First TSO Command:’ is not spaces then the 6.5 CLIST is automatically executed and this information must be removed from the ‘First TSO Command:’. Once removed, hit Enter to save the changes. Again, you’ll need to log off and log back on.

2. Copy a model using the model copy functionality. From the primary encyclopedia menu this is option 1 > 3 > 1.

3. Once the model has been copied you’ll want to define it to GuardIEn.

4. To convert the copied model to 7.6 read the ‘Converting a Model’ chapter (pg. 43) in the upgrade cookbook. A link to the upgrade cookbook is shown below. (The instructions below are taken from the link.)\\tdceh1d6\ProductDoc\Gen\r7.6\Upgrade_Documentation\Gen_r7.6_Upgrade_v2.doc

Option 1 is used if copying a model from another encyclopedia and converting it in the process. This option can’t be used as there is only one HE.

Option 2 is for converting a model that currently exists in the HE. It’s recommended that this option be used when converting models.

Option 3 is for converting ALL models that currently exist the entire HE. It is recommended that this option not be used.
