4x4 Inspiration! One of the many surprises in this shop is the floor. Verno consultoría de diseño produced this classic delicatessen design using Hisbalit’s exclusive Art Factory service. On a black background the designers created a checkerboard design bordered in yellow… A new concept in elegance! Verno consultoría de diseño reinvented the concept of the shop,

with a relaxed style but with the unmistakable stamp of quality down to the last detail. The design took its inspiration from a ship, incorporating elements evoking the sea and the land. Behind the counter, the wall and floor are brought together in a curve with a mosaic tile rendering of a photograph of a fisherman fixing his net. A design created with Hisbalit’s Identity Mosaic service, evoking the sea and giving personality to the project.

If you’re thinking of sweet gifts this Christmas, you must pay a visit to La Duquesita! This historic patisserie in the centre of Madrid was renovated in 2016 by Madrid in Love.

An emblematic space displaying the finest desserts, pastries, sweets and confectionery.

From the traditional to the avant-garde. The Eixample of Barcelona is home to L’Atelier, a patisserie that is both atelier and academy;

a unique, innovative, haute couture delicatessen.

A shop with personality, with an antique façade and furnishings but with a contemporary spirit. The studio highlighted the shop’s historic features while incorporating special details such as the custom floor. Using Hisbalit’s Art Factory service, the designers created a personalised design with hexagonal tesserae in black and white. An elegant, classically inspired design.

The goal of Ideoarquitectura, the studio commissioned with the project, was to fuse the bustle of atelier with the perfection of a boutique-patisserie. They preserved the aesthetics of this diaphanous 500m2 locale, incorporating a delicate interior glass case, a kind of jewellery box creating two contrasting worlds. A daring but captivating idea.

The aim of the studio was to incorporate a railing on the staircase that would also serve to display jewels. To achieve this, the floor included an attractive design in mosaic tile, reference Motel from the Welcome to Palm Springs collection by Hisbalit.

This collection is characterised by its geometric patterns, mother-of-pearl, and retro décor with daring combinations of colour and forms. This is a distinguished locale that elegantly combines simplicity, luxury and functionality, thanks to the work of the architect Ignacio Perde Pérez and the interior designer José Piris. They selected the highest quality materials in neutral tones to create a relaxing atmosphere, including Hisbalit mosaic tiles.

They chose Hisbalit’s Unicolor 103 in white, in round format, for the display window, giving an air of exclusivity and lustre to the shop exterior.

With white as the principal colour, gold toned furnishings and a striking customised floor, the designers managed to produce an atmosphere of freshness, sophistication and elegance. The floor simulates a carpet design, produced using Hisbalit’s COACHELLA model from the Palm Springs collection, and including the name of the shop in mosaic tiles. Love at first sight.

This high-end shop was designed by DIMEIC using an interplay of textures, materials and colours to achieve an atmosphere bursting with glamour. The designers chose a combination of marble, blue velvet, brass and Hisbalit mosaic tiles to create the display counter. An irresistible signature piece!

The locale includes gold coloured tiles from our Urban Chic collection, green tiles (Unicolor 313) and velvet. Contrast and elegance!

The renowned interior designer Lázaro Rosa-Violán has brought worldly pleasures to life in the new BLESS Hotel Madrid, a feast for all 5 senses. The exquisite building is an ode to hedonistic luxury and vintage Madrid

of the 60’s and70’s.

This is a new concept for a hotel: “disruptive, historic and fun”, complete with a sophisticated and customised décor thanks to Hisbalit’s Art Factory personalisation service. The designers chose a totally personalised design for the mosaic tile floors in four different areas: the restaurant ETXEKO of Martín Berasategui, the Fetén Clandestine Bar, two bathroom of

“premium” rooms and the terrace.

The new hotel, located in the heart of Barrio Salamanca, is the newly renovated classic Gran Hotel Velázquez. The renovation preserved the emblematic façade, spiral staircase and the cupola,

maintaining the essence of the building.

Lázaro Rosa-Violán wanted to revive the classic style of the Barrio Salamanca, adding a few country touches. The emblematic building can easily be described as “stately”, but with avant garde touches and noble materials. The result is a unique and elegant fusion of styles, making the BLESS Hotel Madrid a jewel of interior design in the capital.

The restaurant Etxeko, meaning “homemade” in Basque, has a classic traditional Castilian style headed by chef Martín Berasategui, the only Spanish chef with 10 Michelin stars. Inspired by the traditional Madrid tavern the restaurant offers a fusion of the most authentic dishes from the North with the haute cuisine of the Capital.

This restaurant-bistro is a feast for all 5 senses: sight: the intense interplay of light; taste and smell: the creations of a prestigious chef; hearing: the ambient music in the restaurant; touch: the variety of materials used, such as velvet, wood and mosaic tile adding a touch of distinction to the floors of the restaurant.

Lázaro Rosa-Violán turned to Hisbalit’s Art Factory personalisation service to design escutcheons using mosaic tile in red, white and blue evoking the past with classic bordering in cross stich patterns. Elegant and splendid, the escutcheons add a touch of charm and distinction to the atmosphere.

The BLESS Hotel Madrid has another space for gastronomy and entertainment, the Fetén Clandestine Bar. A fun and elegant bar that includes a cosmopolitan bowling alley.

This is an ideal place to have a cocktail or aperitif while owling a round in a mysterious and intriguing setting with Hisbalit’s luminous tile floor setting the tone.

The famed interior designer created a customised floor in mosaic tiles simulating a large carpet with a geometric motif. White tesserae provide the background to provide light while the black tiles create geometric lines. An exquisite floor adding movement, play and personality to the space.

The hotel has 111 rooms, including incredible suites with unique and welcoming styling down to the last detail.

A surprise awaits in two of the suite bathrooms. Sophisticated with a retro touch from the Mid-Century wooden furnishings and a mosaic tile designer floor. The studio chose hexagonal tiles from Hisbalit’s Art Factory collection with personalised colours with playful sensations.

Faithful to the personalised styling, the renowned interior designer chose a customised deign for the floor of the roof-top terrace with incredible views over the capital!

AN UNUSUAL SUITE TO FIRE THE SENSES

V I O L E T B L I S S

An explosion of violet, the fusion of sensuality and spirituality., masculine and feminine… this is what Nayra Iglesias, from In Out Studio, has produced in “Violet Bliss”, a strikingly unusual hotel suite.

Personalised designs, walls covered in a three-dimensional style with careful lighting all come together to fire the senses in this project for the Marbella Design Fair 2019, held on July 4 to 15 at the Palacio de Ferias, Congresos y Exposiciones in Marbella, Malaga.

Violet Bliss is a breath of fresh air; a stimulating but comfortable concept that invites enjoyment and relaxation. The creator, Nayra Iglesias eschewed traditional hotel designs, turning to a colour that is unconventional but “with marvellous properties”.

The designer selected Hisbalit’s mosaic tiles as one of the protagonists of the “Violet Bliss” suite. A room reflecting contrary meanings through colour.

No other colour brings together contrary notions like the colour violet, representing a combination of masculine and feminine (blue and red), spirituality and sensuality.

A p e r s o n a l i s e d c o m b i n a t i o n

This vibrant, 30m2 space is divided into two areas: the bedroom and bathroom with a striking mosaic tile gradations. A “custom” Open Mix combination created by the designer using Hisbalit’s mixture configurator with a fusion of references: Unicolor 309 (violet), Unicolor 251 (purple), Urban Chic 704 (silver) and Urban Chic 504 (white).

To cover the sink unit, another Open Mix was created with Hisbalit’s Unicolor 309 (violet), Unicolor 251 (purple) and Urban Chic 704 (silver) while the walls incorporate an Art Factory design using the same references used on the floor.

HOMAGE TO THE BEAUTY OF ANTIQUES

This suite weaves past and present together, combining the avant garde and traditional craft. Sandra Amate took inspiration from reincarnated spaces, those that contain secret, hidden treasures within their walls, floors and ceilings.

The interior designer revived these treasures, enhancing the value and updating them with a more contemporary style in TIMELESS, an evocative suite produced by the designer for the Marbella Design Fair 2019.

Sandra Amate designed a suite where natural materials play the starring role: stone, wood, leather and silk are combined to offers the maximum comfort and elegance.

For this space, the interior designer Sandra Amate created a custom design using Hisbalit’s Art Factory personalisation service creating a fretwork style floor in the bathroom and a striking carpet-like design for the bedroom.

The geometric pattern in mosaic tile was created using a combination of 3 Hisbalit references from different collections: 101 Trabado from the Aniversario collection (black), Unicolor 220 (dark green) and Urban Chic 501 (copper).

On the floor of “Timeless”, Hisbalit’s recycled glass mosaic tiles were combined with limestone, while the walls display complex harmony of natural pigments, earth tones and liquid metals creating a striking sensation leaving no one indifferent.

We draw our inspiration from many sources, but everything begins with our clients, their mission and their objectives. From then on, we are inspired from everything around us; fashion, design and lifestyle magazines and blogs. In recent years, what has really fed our inspiration are the trips we have taken. That’s why, whenever we have a project outside Valencia, we take a few days to get to know the city where we are.

IN JUST 8 YEARS YOU HAVE REVOLUTIONISED THE WORLD OF INTERIOR DESIGN WITH EXPLOSIVE PROJECTS FULL OF VITALITY AND CREATIVITY. WHAT IS YOUR MAIN SOURCE OF INSPIRATION?

We always try to bring the client a step further. We never like to settle for the original brief of the project. Our objective is always to offer a different vision from what you find on social networks. The visual pollution in the digital age is all absorbing and often the client has seen everything before starting to work with us.

To continue to make a mark there is no alternative to innovation. This is the only way to create extraordinary experiences.

COLOUR, FRESHNESS, INNOVATION…IN YOUR OWN WORDS, WHAT ARE THE HALLMARKS OF MASQUESPACIO?

We started out in the midst of the financial crisis, without contacts or finance. The only thing we had was our ambition to work. And so we had to work our way, step by step, from zero. That allowed us to reflect on each project and helped us to evolve. We took maximum advantage of the digital era and social networks, available to us from day one.

Apart from that, we also knew some design studios have a 10 or 20-year track innovation was the only way to survive in the market.

HOW WAS YOUR START IN THE WORLD OF INTERIOR DESIGN?

THEY SAY THE KEY TO YOUR SUCCESS IS TO MAKE A PERFECT TANDEM. ANA, HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE CHRISTOPHER? AND YOU CHRISTOPHER, WHAT ADJECTIVES DESCRIBE ANA?

They say you are what you eat and in our case it’s completely true. Our kitchen is often a combination of ingredients from different cultures that we are a part of. But over the years, the media and our followers have interpreted our work within this ‘Mediterranean style’ frame. Perhaps this is because of the colours and the light that characterise our projects.

On the other hand, thanks to globalisation and the digital era, now you don’t have to leave home to see what’s happening in another part of the world. This means you can find any type of style anywhere in the world. For us, we now prefer to study the past of the cities we visit and bring it into the future.

COLOMBIA, BELGIUM, SPAIN. HOW DOES YOUR GLOBAL FOCUS INFLUENCE YOUR APPROACH TO A NEW PROJECT?

We always try to start a project using the existing interior architecture. We’re big fans of preserving the past, but sometimes complying with building codes in the renovation make it impossible to preserve the past.

A MATERIAL, A COLOUR AND A FORM?

We’ve asked ourselves many times which project was our most important, but we can honestly say that we have always gone step by step, without any big upheavals. Each project has allowed us to evolve a bit further. Although we can say that after finishing two projects for The Student Hotel, in Barcelona, we had the sensation that for the first time we’d reached out peak.

The Student Hotel was a client we aspired to work with, since their style is very similar to our own. And one of our objectives was to do a big hotel at some point, and so we completed the circle by working with them.

After those projects we have not stopped thinking about how to reorient ourselves and try to be more authentic. We have been working on this process for over a year and we are gradually seeing projects that represent this evolution. In this way, we’re working on a new line of furniture through our new brand called Mas Creations. This is a totally personal project and we suspect it will be our craziest project yet. But the presentation will have to wait until next year’s Design Week in Milan.

WHAT WAS THE CRAZIEST PROJECT, THE ONE THAT MARKED A BEFORE AND AFTER IN YOUR PROFESSIONAL CAREER?

WHAT CURRENT TREND DO YOU FIND MOST ATTRACTIVE?

We have a lot of challenges to look forward to. We want to continue evolving as a creative studio and become increasingly more authentic. On the other hand, we would like to have the opportunity to do projects in other countries and cities with different cultures; for years we’ve dreamed about doing a boutique hotel in New York.

IN 2006, YOU WON THE “MASSIMO DUTTI NEW VALUES” AWARD. SINCE THEN YOUR SUCCESSES HAVEN’T STOPPED. LAST YEAR YOU WON THE ARCHILOVERS COMPETITION FOR BEST PROJECT FOR THE RESTAURANT KAIKAYA...WHAT IS YOUR NEXT PROFESSIONAL CHALLENGE?

Mosaic tiles allow us to create an explosive effect with a single material that can be applied to both walls and floors. Also, we like colours. Tiles are a perfect material because you can choose from a huge range of colours.

MOSAIC TILES ARE ONE OF YOUR PREFERRED MATERIALS. YOU CHOSE IT FOR EXPLOSIVE PROJECTS LIKE THE KENTO SHOP IN VALENCIA, USING ”ULTRAVIOLET” TESSERAE IN ROUND FORMAT. WHY MOSAIC TILES?

The broader the range of colours of the material the more possibilities we have to use it. We have ruled out using a lot of materials in projects because they were not available in the colours we needed. That’s why we love that Hisbalit is always evolving its palette of colours. It’s a real plus for studios like ours who work a lot with current colours.

Last October Hisbalit participated in the biennale Piscina & Wellness Barcelona. This special 25th anniversary edition was marked by innovation, connectivity, internationalisation and sustainability. An excellent opportunity to present our latest mosaic tiles for pools and spas, such as Edge or the new Aqualuxe Class 3.

Our mosaic tiles made an appearance at InteriHotel Barcelona by the hand of In Out Studio. Nayra Iglesias updated her project “Violet Bliss” with a newly renovated image at this key international event in southern Europe for professionals in the contract-hospitality sector. The event was held in Barcelona on November 20 to 22.

In September we didn’t want to miss the first edition of Design Week Dominican Republic! This unique exhibition gathered together prestigious art and design studios, manufacturers and international brands. Our mosaic tiles added a touch of colour in HOST’EL, the space by Carabela, Tissage and Venini Santo Domingo, decorated by Gutiérrez Rodio Workshop.

The latest international standards pay special attention to safety and the risk of falls. Thus, Hisbalit, always in constant evolution, presented at the 25th anniversary edition of Piscina & Wellness Barcelona our Class-3 slip resistant tiles for our most emblematic pool collection: Aqualuxe.

This trendy new collection of mosaic tiles has an especially elegant finish, with subtle changes in colour depending on the light.

SAFETY GUARANTEED IN DESIGNER POOLS!

We wanted our stellar collection of mosaic tiles for “designer pools” to include slip-resistant with the maximum safety classification, able to be used where slip-resistance is required by the Technical Building Code without sacrificing aesthetics.

W h y A q u a l u x e B 3 ?

The 12 references are available in Class 3 slip-resistant finish, meeting all international safety standards without sacrificing exquisite colours and finishes that make all the difference. A designer collection with safety guaranteed.

The new Aqualuxe B3 tiles, as with all Hisbalit’s slip-resistant tiles, have a surface that is smooth to the touch while maintaining the characteristic glossy finish of the collection.

The collection has 12 references in a wide variety of tones, from the traditional (blue, white and green) to newer tones like beige, grey and black. These new references were presented this year to add a touch of distinction to surfaces in pools and spas.

For the third consecutive year, Hisbalit has participated in CERSAIE, the most prestigious international trade fair in ceramics and bathroom fixtures, held in Bologna (Italy) September 23 to 27. This is an essential event where we presented our “trends in mosaic tiles for 2020”.

The Hisbalit stand turned heads with its ecological focus; an 80m2 space inspired by nature, by including natural materials and a huge wooden tree, we wanted to reflect the environmental commitment of Hisbalit,

offering a high-quality, eco-friendly product, “100% made in Spain”.

Another characteristic of our stand was its explosion of colour! Visitors enjoyed a taste of our wide range of colours through a strikingly creative design that covered the floor and one wall of the stand.

This was a customised design created by the s Hisbalit’s Art Factory personalisation service, using over 25 different colour tones.

The trend for personalised designs will only increase in the coming year. Thus, at Cersaie, Hisbalit presented its huge variety of references and colour tones which, along with various textures, formats and finishes, offers more than 200 different personalisation options top choose from.
