We will introduce you to the relevant technologies and concepts, and equip you with the skills to design and develop mobile applications. You will have the opportunity to create from scratch your own mobile application that could have real commercial value.

Anyone with programming experience and knowledge (e.g. either a C++ or an object-oriented programming language) who is interested in progressing into the area of mobile application development. Do they need a smart phone?

It will introduce you to wireless concepts, WiFi networks, and current and future developments in mobile computing which will enable you to develop your own mobile application.

The course combines taught sessions with on-line learning. The face to face elements will be held at the Weston College University campus on Saturday 14th May and Saturday 18th June from 9am to 3pm. There will be 20 hours of on-line learning. An additional 2-hour session will be held during the week commencing 20th June where you will present your completed application to the group and view the apps that the other participants have produced.

As part of the course you will develop your own mobile application. This piece of work will be assessed, giving you the opportunity to gain 6 University of Bath credits which can be used towards a higher education award.

The course fee is £600. This includes tuition, learning materials, iOS testing and distribution fee (check this as depends on the platform that will be used), and access to Weston College and the University of Bath library and computing facilities (important or not?).
