INTRODUCTION

himac View is a mobile app for centrifuges that can monitor, operate or stop a centrifuge with a mobile terminal (iPhone or Android Smartphone) via Wi-Fi. Required environment

· Compatible centrifuges Our LAN centrifuges with built-in LAN interface (standard or optional according to model) and himac View compatible function. The applicable timing varies depending on the model. Please contact us for details.

· LAN and Wi-Fi router · himac View application

Please download and install from the official website of Apple or Google.

NOTE: In the explanation of mobile terminal operation in the text, the screen example shown is for iPhone when not otherwise indicated. The centrifuge screen shown is for our Ultracentrifuge CP-NX series as a representative example. Depending on the type of device, the screen layout may differ.

WARNING: ● Information terminals can only remotely operate a single main unit set in advance.

Be sure to use only the centrifuge main unit and rotor that is actually set to be operated. Also, if the mobile terminal that can remotely operate a centrifuge is lost, promptly change the setting (Remote Key) of the centrifuge main unit, or disable remote operation. Careless remote operation by a third party may cause damage to the main unit or the specimen.

● Do not put the information terminal in a pocket or bag with the app running. If

remote operation occurs due to unintended tapping of the screen, it may cause damage to the main unit or the specimen.

● When using the centrifuge for medical or clinical examination purposes, or in

pharmaceutical applications such as vaccines, there is a possibility of interfering with the protocol due to misoperation of the information terminal, so be sure to set remote operation of the main unit to OFF.

● The function to limit remote operation to one mobile terminal does not guarantee

complete protection of unauthorized access. Please refer to "About centrifuge network security" on the next page.

CAUTION: ● By setting the centrifuge to be monitorable, a third party connected to the same

network can also know the presence of centrifuges, centrifugal conditions, and operating conditions using himac View. Please do not set up the centrifuge to be monitorable if these items are confidential.

● It may not be possible to monitor properly depending on the communication status

such as network equipment failure or lack of signal.

About centrifuge network security

■ When connecting the centrifuge to a LAN, please consult with the network administrator, etc. and

use a network which is security-protected by firewall, etc. ■ If the environment in which the centrifuge is used is equivalent to the following, more advanced

security measures are recommended. · When using a centrifuge as a medical device · When high quality is required for the specimens · When the presence of centrifuges, centrifugal condition, and operating conditions are

confidential information · In case of concern over unauthorized access

In these cases, please consult with the network administrator to take the following countermeasures according to the degree of security. If you cannot take the countermeasures, do not connect the LAN cable to the centrifuge.

1. Isolate from the Internet (use closed network)

Use a closed network without an external (Internet) communication route. 2. Firewall settings

When connecting a centrifuge to a network that can communicate externally (Internet) rather than the above closed network, inform the network administrator of the IP address of the centrifuge and set the firewall to shut down all communication between the outside and the centrifuge. When communicating with the centrifuge via the Internet is unavoidable, shut down all communications except for the specific mobile terminal that uses himac View.

3. Network access restriction

Together with countermeasures 1 or 2 above, take security measures so that people who are not authorized cannot access the network.

1. Preparation

By using himac View, you can check the status of the centrifuge from a mobile terminal*. Also, you can issue an instruction to the centrifuge to start or stop operation from himac View.

When using himac View, it is necessary to set up the centrifuge and mobile terminal. For details on how to operate himac View, refer to "2. How to use himac View."

On the centrifuge side, network settings, monitoring settings and remote operation settings must be configured. Refer to "1-1-1 Network settings," "1-1-2 Monitoring settings" and "1-1-3 Remote operation settings," respectively.

On the mobile terminal side, himac View must be installed and Wi-Fi settings must be configured. For Wi-Fi settings, refer to "1-2-1 Wi-Fi connection (iOS)" and "1-2-2 Wi-Fi connection (Android)."

"himac View and centrifuge installation"

· Prepare a router to be a wireless (Wi-Fi) access point. *Mobile terminal...Here, it refers to an iOS or Android OS smartphone.

Hereinafter referred to as a mobile terminal.

1-1 Preparing the centrifuge

1-1-1 Network settings The centrifuge has a built-in interface converter "XPort® (made by Lantronix Inc.)" to connect to the LAN. In order to configure the initial settings of XPort®, download Lantronix® DeviceInstaller™ from Lantronix Inc.'s website and install it on your computer. Download URL: https://www.lantronix.com/products/deviceinstaller/

After installation, launch the device installer and setup the network as follows.

(1) IP address assignment (XPort® settings)

1. Connect the computer and the centrifuge with a LAN cable.

2. Open the Start menu, then select "All Programs", "Lantronix",

"DeviceInstaller4.4", and "DeviceInstaller" in this order.

3. "Lantronix DeviceInstaller 4.4.0.0" (*1) starts up.

* 1: The name may vary depending on the revision.

DeviceInstaller automatically searches for any XPort® connected to your computer’s

network.

4. Click the Xport® you want to configure and click the "Assign IP" icon, or select "Assign

IP Address" from the Device menu.

5. The "Assign IP Address" screen and the "Assignment Method" page are displayed.

Select "Assign a specific IP address" then select "Next."

6. The "IP Settings" page is displayed. Enter "IP address", "Subnet mask",

"Default gateway" (*1) then select "Next."

(*1) The default gateway setting is required when the network range to be used is wide. Please contact your network administrator.

IP address, etc. settings for the XPort® to be connected.

7. The "Assignment" page is displayed. Click the [Assign] button.

It will be updated to the specified IP address.

(2) How to configure the serial communication conditions, etc. (XPort® settings)

Although XPort® connects to external devices via LAN, serial communication is performed

inside the centrifuge, so it is necessary to configure the serial communication conditions.

1. Start up "Lantronix DeviceInstaller 4.4.0.0."

Select the XPort® you want to configure with the mouse and double-click it.

After clicking the [Assign] button, it takes up to a minute for the assignment to complete.

2. The "Device Info" screen is displayed. Select the "Web Configuration" tab.

3. The "Web Configuration" screen is displayed.

4. Click [OK] without entering the account.

NOTE Although you can set the login password within the device installer, if you lose your

password you will no longer be able to change settings, and it may be necessary to

repair the software to return it to its initial state.

Be careful not to change items other than those described in this manual.

5. The Top page of Lantronix® DeviceInstaller™ is displayed.

6. Enter the value of the item that needs to be changed.

(1) Select "Serial Settings" from the menu.

Enter the change contents (see ○ Serial Settings setting contents list on the next

page),

Click the [OK] button. ("Done!" is displayed.)

(2) Select "Connection" from the menu.

Enter the change contents (see ○ Connection settings contents list in the table below),

7. When you have finished making changes, select "Apply Settings" from the menu.

8. XPort® saves the settings and returns to the Top page of Lantronix® DeviceInstaller™.

Lantronix® DeviceInstaller™ is completed, and the XPort® settings are complete.

Please refer to "2-4-1 Issuing a Remote Key" in this instruction manual for the issuing method of Remote Keys for mobile terminals.

information.

(1) Ins. Name (instrument name)

(2) ID (instrument ID)

(3) Name (nickname)

(4) Icon

• Tap on the display field to enter

the corresponding input screen.

• Finally, save the centrifuge

information by pressing the

[Save] button.

・Name: You can enter a nickname.

・IP address: Enter the IP address of the centrifuge.

2-2 Sorting the centrifuge list The centrifuges registered on the Instrument List screen can be sorted and displayed.

You can sort in ascending order by nickname, instrument name or instrument ID.


1 Tap the [Sort] button on the Instrument List screen.

NOTE The status display of each centrifuge displayed on the Instrument List screen is not automatically updated. To display the latest status, tap the update button.

If "Disconnect" is displayed in the status display field, communication with the centrifuge is not established.

Please review the settings of the centrifuge and mobile terminal.

2-4 Remote operation NOTE

A Remote Key is required to perform START / STOP remote operation of the centrifuge from the mobile terminal.

Remote operation becomes possible by setting the (Remote Key) issued by this operation in the centrifuge instrument.

(Refer to "1-1-3 Remote operation settings" in this operation manual for the settings on the centrifuge side)
