Description

Pneumatic wedge action grips feature an open front design which facilitates easy

loading of large specimens. This series can accommodate round specimens up to

20mm in diameter and flat specimens up to 25mm thick in forces from 20kN to

300kN.

These grips are operated with a pneumatic valve mounted on the grip. Powered

by pneumatic control, the faces or jaws are moved by a pneumatic piston

clamping the sample, and providing additional pressure to minimize specimen

slippage. The wedge action enhances this hold with minimum slippage by

increasing the gripping load as the force increases during the test.

The shape of the jaws can be V-face for round specimens or pyramid surface for flatspecimens. The vee faces used for round specimens by design have a reduced areaat the center, which compromises their ability to absorb high energy breaks withoutfracture. This grip uses a split-vee face configuration which allows the break energyto be dissipated without damaging the faces.

The jaws are easily interchangeable. The user only needs to remove the guiding

covers by loosening the knurling screws that secure them to the grip body and

replace the jaws without effort. For security reasons, this operation should be

made disconnecting the air supply system.

The lubrication of the jaw face carrier is through standard grease fitting.
