May is here and we are at the end of our year, and a fun year it has been!

I can’t believe it has been 2years already since I took on the position as your President.

It has been such an amazing experience working with a great group of incredibly talented women.

I have learned so much from each and every one of you. Now that my

term is over, I am thrilled to pass the torch on to Mel Reynolds.

She is an incredibly talented and vibrant woman who will be an amazing leader for our group.

Thank you all for your support over the past two years. I am so glad I had the opportunity to take this journey with you.

GENERAL MEETINGS

Join Us for the Final 2012-2013 Montgomery Moms meeting, May 7th at 7:30!

Our last meeting will be an evening of fun, laughter and hanging out with the girls.

We will be wrapping up the year, with a Cinco de Mayo themed night,

and board games. What could be more fun?

If you have a fun game to share, please bring it that evening and let us know so we make sure to have enough games.

Book Club.... A fun, lively discussion....Book club will try to meet the third week of each month (with some exceptions).

I will let the host choose the day, time and place. Please let me know if you’d like to host.

We are happy to meet at houses or out and about. We usually start meeting around 7:30 PM but the exact time can be up to the host. Please let Lori Suffield know if you want to get on the book club email list.

Mediterranean Quinoa Salad

This recipe is adapted from Peachy’s Health Smart

Cooking School.

Since quinoa is a complete protein, this salad can be

a stand alone meal or served with an additional

protein like grilled chicken, seafood or steak.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the dressing

ingredients. When ready to serve, pour the dressing

over the salad and toss to combine.

Salad

2 cups cooked quinoa

1 red bell pepper, diced

1 cucumber, seeded and diced

½ cup black olives, chopped

½ cup fresh basil

1-2 cups arugula, baby spinach

or a combination

½ cup crumbled feta

Dressing (whisk together)

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 tablespoon vinegar (balsamic or apple cider)

1 teaspoon minced fresh garlic or pinch of garlic

powder

2 teaspoons each of minced fresh oregano and

thyme, or a pinch of the dried stuff

1 teaspoon brown sugar

Minced shallot (optional)

Salt & pepper to taste

Save the date!  We will have a family pool party on June 29 from 4-6 pm at the Blue Ash Rec Center.  An e-vite will be sent with details as we get closer to that date.

SAVE THE DATE – Spring Couples PartyPlease mark your calendars for Saturday, June 1 for our Spring Couples Party—Montgomery Moms Olympics! We're going to do all kinds of fun stuff; brains, brawn, and the talent to flip cups will all come in handy!! 

Each couple will be assigned a country with an award going to best dressed/most spirited.  Medals will be handed out for 1-3rd place (sorry no participation awards. There will also be a prize going to the couple with the most awards at the end of the night. 

This will be a backyard BBQ & Bonfire at The Erck’s house (address will be in evite).  Cost is $10 per couple, main dish & beverages will be provided asking all couples to bring a side dish/app/dessert.

If anyone is interested in helping out, please contact Rebekah Erck.   

Mom’s Night OutCome join us for an “incredible workout” and fun (of course) at the Blue Ash Rec Center Rock Climbing Wall. No experience necessary (we’re learning too!). Cost is $5 per person (including BARC members).

Open climb ends at 8:30, so we plan to extend the evening with drinks at Firehouse Grill. Anyone who doesn’t want to climb but still wants a night out is welcome to meet up with us at Firehouse afterwards!

When: Tuesday May 28, Climb from 7:00-8:30 pm, Drinks/Apps 8:15 - ?

Where: Blue Ash Rec Center, 4433 Cooper Rd, Firehouse Grill 4785 Lake Forest Drive (and Glendale-Milford)

OUTREACH NEWS!!!Congratulations to two of our Moms!!!

Cecilly Sears and her husband Doug welcomed Colette Suzanne on April 3, 2013! Colette arrived at 4:14pm weighing 7 pounds, 3 ounces and was 20.5 inches. She joins big brothers William and August.

Kristi Minar and her husband Phil welcomed Katelyn Marie on April 12, 2013. Katelyn arrived at 9:47am weighing 7 pounds, 8 ounces and was 21 inches. She joins big brothers Brody and Tyler.

We are so excited about our two new additions!

A big thank you goes out to our meal-makers for the month: Kara Willia, Lisa York, Bev Ross, Kathy Mercurio, Micha Gleisinger and Regan Van Kerchove. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

Please let Katherine Rapp know if you are able to make a meal for a new mom or a mom going through a difficult time. Also, if you are expecting, please let Katherine know as well.

Referral for Service Kate Pinckert recommends North Star Heating and Cooling. John may be reached at 513-274-3076. 

He installed a new HVAC system for Kate.  He services all brands, installs new units, and will provide free estimates for service.  All service calls are $65.
