What are vibratory bowl feeders?

Vibratory bowl feeders are the universal type feeders used to feed small parts on assembly line in required quantity and in desired orientation.

Basic working of the feeder

Basic working of the feeder The system consists of a vibratory bowl feeder and a transformer. It converts Electro-magnetically produced vibrations into mechanical vibrations. It consists of a bowl mounted on a base by three inclined leaf springs. An electro magnet is fixed rigidly to the top spring holder and bowl and the vibrations are transferred to the spiral conveying track of the bowl. The transformer consists of a frequency selector ranging from 0-100 Hz. Hence this became one of the three parameters for experimentation.

Procedure Experiment was performed based on these parameters and observations were taken. The experiment was carried out by taking one factor at a time. Feed Rate V/s different parameters graphs were plotted Effects due to all the three on feed rate were studied.

CONCLUSION On the basis of graphical analysis done by experimentation following are the conclusions drawn:Effect of frequency on feed rate- In general it is seen that with increase in frequency, the feed rate increases. However the highest feed rate was obtained at 55 Hz. Effect of part population on feed rate-Feed rate increases for increasing population and the best feed rate contains part population of 300. Effect of part length- It is also increasing with increasing part length. And the highest feed rate is achieved at part length of 20mm.
