· Komal Rahane won the “Best Viewer Award” at the paper presentation event organized by Shrushti in September 2011. · Sameeksha Khare conducted a voluntary program to maintain the relationship between college and IBM as an IBM Campus Ambassador and also a session on “ MS webmatrix” for about 75 students of all branches as a part of the Microsoft Students Partner (MCP) program. · Samhita Kulkarni and her team presented a project “Rain Detector” at INNOWAYS, KPIT Cummins.· Radhika Sasawade won the 1st prize at the EATON project competition.· Divya Motiwala, Poorva Salve, Rachana Kela and Rutuja Borawake won the runners up at PICT Concepts 2012 for their project on 'CaSpeC' (Cancer Specimen data Collection). · Shruti Umamheshwaran, Prajakta Pawar, Piyusha Dhalpe, Shruti Pawar – for project “Selection of compiler optimization flags for improving performance of HPC programs” and Suman Kashyap, Shruti Zamwar,Snigdha Singh, Tanvi Bhavsar -- for project “Benchmarking and analysis of NoSQL technologies ” were Consolation Prize winners at 1st National Student Project Contest and Expo from Computer Society of India.

RAZZMATAAZSTUDENT CULTURAL ACHIEVEMENTS

· Anuja Dongaonkar, Vaishnavi Patil, Kalyani Bhakare, Yugandhara Bakre, Nupur Lele, Anita Vadvero, Aditi Dixit, Mayuri Bhandge, Monica Marathe, Nikita Chowdhary won the award for Best Costume7 Karandak, February, 2012.· Vaishnavi Deshpande won a consolation prize for painting at the Firodiya Karandak.· Sameeksha Khare coordinated intercollege cultural acti vities and also organized art exhibition and SPIC MACKEY concerts as the Art Circle coordinator.

· Ketki Hinge won the 'Best Player' award at Pentacle 2012. She has won the “Most Promising Player' award at Fireball, Bharti Vidyapeeth. She was a part of the winning team in basketball at AIT as well as ISB&M. The team won runners-up at the COEP event, Zest. · Supriya Bhide won the first prize in kho-kho at the inter-zonal sports events organized by the Pune University. She also won the runner-up in kho-kho at the inter-collegiate competitions organized by the Pune University.· Sunanda Shanbhag won the 1st prize in football at the MIT Summit. She won the 3rd prize in football held at the Pune University. She was a part of the winning team in football at Melange, VIT as well as at Pace. · Nikita Motiramani won the runners-up in ball badminton at Zest, COEP. · Surekha Shinde won the 1st prize in kho-kho at Zest, COEP.· Shikha Mehta won the 1st prize in Chess at Damini. · Ashlesha Deshmukh was a part of the winning team in football at ZEST, COEP.· Madhura Pise was a part of the winning squad in football at Runbhumi (ISB&M). Her team also won the runners-up at Zest (COEP), Pentacle (CCOEW) and Damini (MKSSS).

Naik attended a two day workshop on “ Research trends in machine learning and neural networks” on 27th -28th February 2012 organized by PICT ,Pune.· Ms. Sushila S. Shelke participated in a 2 days' workshop on “Writing effective conference paper for Engineering/Science Teachers” conducted by IIT Bombay, on 18th – 19th February 2012. · Prof. A. N. Muchrikar and Prof. S. P. Mengale attended a 3 days conference, from 23rd – 25th January 2012, organized by the ACM. · Mrs. Aparna U. Hajare and Mrs. Vaishali M. Salgar attended a workshop on a final year subject 'Distributed O.S.' organized at PVG from 22nd – 24th January 2012. · Prof. H. C. Mhasawade attended the 'Tech Sangam Programme” organized by the Sunbeam Institute of Information Technology from 21st -22nd January 2012. He also attended a workshop on “Ethical Hacking and Information Security” organized by Kyrion Digital Securities from 5th – 7th January 2012. · Mrs. Nutan H. Deshmukh and Ms. Vrushali J. Shinde attended a workshop on Mobile Computing and Business Intelligence organized by PCCOE in association with TCS on 13th January 2012. · Mrs. Meenal A. Kamlakar, Ms. Manisha R. Jadhav , Mrs. Sheetal S. Barekar , Mrs. Shilpa P. Pant, Ms. Sushila S. Shelke, Ms. Dipali N. Gunjate and Ms. Swati D. Harkanth attended a short-term training program on “Android Platform: Mobile Computing and Research Trends” organized by CCOEW in association with ISTE from 4th – 8th January 2012. · Mrs. Smita R. Lokare, Mrs. Nutan H. Deshmukh, Ms. Manisha R. Jadhav, Mrs. Sheetal S. Barekar, Ms. Swati G. Shirsath and Mr. R. K. Holkar attended a 5 days' workshop on “software testing”organized at CCOEW in association with ISTE in December 2011. · Prof. A. N. Muchrikar and Mrs. Varsha S. Pimprale attended a 5 days' workshop on “Cloud Computing” organized by SCOE, Narhe from 16th – 20th November 2011.

INNOVATION Innovation 2K12 was the National level Technical event held on 9th & 10th March 2012. It saw an active contribution from the Computer Department in terms of various events and competitions. A Software Project Competition, C Coding Competition and a workshop on 'Agile Development' were arranged and organized by the Department. IBM was the main sponsor for this event. Ms. Manisha R. Jadhav and Mrs. Shital S. Barekar were faculty coordinators from our departments.

GANDHAR

Gandhar, the intra-college cultural festival saw active involvement from both the faculty and the students of the Computer Department. The faculty participated in the performances with complete enthusiasm as well. Ms. Shilpa S. Deshpande and Mrs. Purva D. Kekatpure won the second prize in Badminton in Gandhar.

FORGING AHEAD FACULTY PUBLICATIONS

· Mrs. Neeta P. Maitre published a paper on “EST Clustering Algorithms: A computational overview” at the International Conference on Innovations and Trends in Applied Computing organized by Y.C.C.E. Nagpur, in association with University of Hartford, USA held from 1st to 3rd February 2012. The idea behind the paper deemed it as an ‘Innovative Paper’.· Mrs. Rajashree K. Kulkarni and Mrs. Sunita A. Jahirabadkar published a paper on “Finding and visualizing subspace clusters of high dimensional dataset using advanced star coordinates” at the International conference on Intelligent Computational Systems organized by Planetary Research Center, Dubai held on 6th and 7th January 2012. · Mrs. Meenal A. Kamlakar and

authored a journal on “Secure, robust and more efficient watermarking for video using SVD for protecting rightful ownership“ in January 2012, (to be published in May 2012) in the International Journal of Engineering Research and Industrial Applications, Volume 5, No, 2, ISSN NO – 0974-1518.

CSI, STUDENT CHAPTER

· Ms. Shilpa S. Deshpande and Ms. Teja D. Shinde delivered lectures on Java Topics for MKSSS BCA students under CSI student chapter in March 2012· The Regional Round of the 1st National Level Project Competition for Region VI, Computer Society of India, was held on 3rd March 2012 at Cummins College of Engineering for Women, Pune. 22 groups registered from 12 different colleges from Mumbai, Nagpur, Nasik and Pune cities. Mr. C. G. Sahasrabudhe, Regional Vice President (Reg. VI); Mr. Deepak Sharma, Senior Manager at Capgemini; Prof. Garje, Professor and Head of the Department of Computer and Information Technology, PVG COET, Pune, Ex Chairman Board of Studies University of Pune and Prof. Muchrikar, Head of the Computer Engineering Department were present at this session. Many other senior faculty members from various colleges in Pune as well as senior members from industry were present at inauguration. The certificates to all the participants were distributed by Mr. Arun Kadekodi, Co-Founder and CEO Soft Corner, Ex Chairman CSI Pune Chapter.The program committee of Mrs. Aparna Hajare(CSI Student Chapter Coordinator), Mrs. Madhuri P. Tasgaonkar, Mr. S.P. Mengale, Mr. H.S. Khairnar, Mrs. Chhaya S.Gosavi, Mrs. Anjali M.Naik and Mrs. Vaishali M.Salgar.We all extend out thanks to Mr Ranga Rajgopal, National Student Coordinator; Mr. C. G. Sahasrabudhe, Regional VP (Reg VI); Dr. Shirish Sane, Region VI Student Coordinator and Dr. (Mrs.) Madhuri Khambete, Principal, Cummins College of Engg. for Women for giving us opportunity to conduct this regional round and also providing us support and guidance wherever we needed.
