EngTech Visionary Winner 2010 – Leanne Normanshire
Engineering IS the future; without engineering in the future, we would not be able to overcome global warming and finding alternative forms of energy.
Apprentice of the year Winner 2010 – Tom Goudy
I felt I would benefit more from doing an apprenticeship rather than continuing with full time education. An apprenticeship is a self developing program not only in education but in life experience.
The Awards underpin our Vision, to improve the world through engineering by inspiring, preparing and supporting tomorrow’s engineers to respond to society’s challenges.

In order to address this IMechE in the North East are Greenpower a national competition to Design, Build and Race an electric car.
To help pupils and teachers achieve this and inspire them to take an interest in engineering we are offering design support and encouragement to schools. We are currently working with 4 schools and counting…
What encouraged you to pursue a career in Engineering?
We are facing a skills shortage in the UK and the North East in particular to fill this gap we must encourage young people to consider careers in Engineering.
Do you have children of school age? Find out how they could enter a car at www.greepower.co.uk or email [email protected]
At the 2012 North East Greenpower Heat 61 teams entered to prove that they had designed the best car!
