Mixers & AccessoriesSince 1976, TAH Industries has pioneered the design and manufacture of disposable mixers. We thoroughly understand mixing technology and have built our manufacturing platform to design, mold, and assemble mixing and packaging solutions. We offer a complete line of mixers for adhesivesystems. We also produce custom systems. Often these custom packages incorporate standard components, significantly reducing the capital expenditures and unit price for our customers.

GeometriesTAH offers three mixer geometries: Spiral Mixers™, Turbo Mixers™ (square) and Stata-Tube™ Mixers. All of our mixers divide and combine material into a homogeneous stream as it passes through a series of elements or stages that are positioned at alternating angles. Our Spiral and Turbo geometries are used for Cartridge and Meter Mix/Dosing applications, and our Stata-Tube geometryis designed for CPI/Water Treatment applications. Read more about how to select mixers for eachapplication at the beginning of their respective sections.

Spiral Mixers: Our patented Spiral Mixers use a simple yet time-proven geometry. The elementsin these mixers are 180° helical ‘twists’ alternating in either right- or left-hand rotation. These alternating elements are joined so that their leading and trailing edges are mutually perpendicular.

Turbo (Square) Mixers: TAH’s newest line of disposable static mixers, the Series 180A andSeries 295 Turbo Mixers, use our Turbo (square) geometry. This patented design consists of aseries of alternating left- and right-hand elements with intermittent flow inverters which effectivelychannel the fluids from the walls into the center of the mixer.

Stata-Tube Mixers: Our Stata-Tube Mixer geometry is built with of a series of overlapping, semi-elliptical baffles which divide material into numerous substreams. The unique geometry ensureseffective in-line mixing, virtually eliminating density, temperature, and concentration gradients.

MaterialsOur disposable mixers are comprised of mixing elements molded from either Acetal, polypropylene, or Kynar® and housings of either polypropylene or nylon. (Our in-line mixers primarily feature stainless steel housings and mixing elements.) Materials may vary, check with ourTech Services or Sales Depts. for details.

The Series 120 plastic spiral elements were developedfor adhesive and sealant mixing applications. The mixerconsists of a series of left- and right-hand spiral elements.TAH’s mixers have the patented “Apple Core” cross section. This geometry ensures:

Long lifeGreat flow rateFlushes clean with less solvent

The elements are injection-molded in one operation. This procedure ensures excellent quality control and low unit cost. For adhesive and sealant applications, ourAcetal material is recommended. If required, TAH alsooffers these elements in other engineered plastics, suchas polypropylene and Kynar®. Contact our TechnicalService or Sales Department for more information.

This all-plastic assembly is ideal for messy or short pot life adhesives. Its low cost allows disposal of the mixer instead of purging or burning. The housing is transparent, so the operator can inspect the condition of the mixer. With the interior mixing elements molded of Acetal (polymer coated cellulose fiber), it has the toughness and chemical resistance to be completely inert to all common solvents. MaximumService temperature is 250° F (121° C). For adhesive and sealant mixing applications, optional polypropylene mixing elements are available.

With conventional meter/mix manifolds, the reactive materials meet withinthe manifold before the mixer. If the materials are allowed to gel, the manifold will plug and must be disassembled. This can be a time-consumingand expensive task.

The Series 160 eliminates this problem. The mixing nozzle has an oversizedbell inlet. Manifolds and valves separately port the A and B materials directly into the mixer. Cleanup simply involves removing the mixer and wiping themanifold face clean. A metal jacket is recommended if the working pressureinside the mixing nozzle exceeds 150 psi (10 bar).

Some competitor mixing nozzles have a smallerinlet bell. TAH offers plastic sleeves whichpress fit into the standard Series 160 bell toconvert our mixers to their size.

TAH’s Series 160AA is a low-pressure air-assisted spraymixer for two-component coatings. This disposable staticmixer is designed for our Series 171 Quick•Spray LPSystem and can be used with conventional meter/mixequipment or with TAH’s two-component cartridge spraysystem for smaller jobs. (See Series 171 Quick•Spray onpage 2-6 for more information.)

The reactive coating is mixed within the disposable static mixer. At the mixer outlet, air is introduced whichatomizes the liquid stream. By regulating the airflow rate, the degree of atomization can be adjusted. This is effectivefor high viscosity liquids and abrasive suspensions. And,since the reactive coating is contained completely withinthe mixer, cleanup time is minimal.

Coming soon! TAH will soon launch this new mixer for high-pressure spray applications. See our website atwww.tah.com/quickspray for details.

TAH introduces the Series 160ST—a family of disposablemixers that are ideal for short pot life or viscous adhesives. These mixers incorporate a precision ceramic spray tip in the outlet of the mixer. The spray tip generates a flatspray pattern with a 40° angle. And, rather than cleaning by flushing with solvent, the entire assembly can simply be discarded.

The mixer can be used with TAH’s Series 400 Autovalve. The standard assembly uses a 24-element mixer whichensures complete blending of the resin and hardener. Forhigh-pressure airless spray, a jacket attaches directly onto the Autovalve to reinforce the plastic mixer.

Designed for the Series 442 Dynamic Autovalve System, this mixer is ideal for difficult-to-mix urethanes and epoxies. The unique designcombines dynamic mixing with low-cost, disposable mixing chambers. It is ideal for casting and molding applications such as RTM, potting, andencapsulation.

The Series 442 can be used with new meter mix systems or retrofittedto improve mixing in an existing system. The A and B components are separately ported through the gun body and manifold and do notcombine until they meet inside the disposable mixing chamber. Therotating impeller consists of a string of helical elements which move thefluids back and forth. By adjusting the speed of rotation from 200 to2000 rpm, high shear and complete mixing are achieved. (For moreinformation see the Series 442 Dynamic Autovalve System on page 2-4 of this catalog.) .

Luer Lok AdaptersLuer Lok Adapters (locking hubs) are used for attaching needles to mixers (see blue nut in photo). When ordering, simply add the suffix “LL” to the mixer part number (e.g. 160-818LL). To attachsyringes to mixers, order female-to-male Luer Lok Adapters by adding “LL-FH” to the mixer partnumber (e.g. 160-818LL-FH). If you want to use a metal jacket with the 160-4XX and 160-6XXmixers, order the mixer and the Luer Lok fitting as two separate items unassembled. Consult ourTechnical Service or Sales Department for details.

Luer NeedlesTAH offers two types of Luer Needles—standard and tapered. The standard needle features stainless steel tubing with a burr-free blunt end and plastic hub. The tapered needle is a one-piece, plastic molded part. The needles are color-coded and pre-packaged with 50 needles per bag.

For medium- and high-pressure systems,we recommend that a metal jacket be usedover the mixing nozzle. TAH offers a rangeof low-cost, one-piece jackets. They areideal for robotic applications where repeatpositioning is required. All TAH manifoldsand valves have our standard 7/8 x 14thread, but our metal jackets are offered in both standard and an alternative 7/8 x 9thread for your convenience.
