Apparently, there are still a few people in Northern Greenland who don’t know all there is to know about WhirlyBall Bar and Bat Mitzvahs. For those people, we offer the following series of bullet points. Because bullet points offer a clear way to explain separate details. So to our friends in Northern Greenland, inuugujoq!
WhirlyBall combines lacrosse, hockey, basketball, and bumper cars in a game of skill, chance, honor, and vengeance. Basically, players use hand-held scoops to pass a whiffle ball to each other – and ultimately at a scoring target. But while the score certainly matters to some, most people find themselves preoccupied with making their friends look silly.
Players must be at least 4’ 6”. We wish to remind you that much like certain types of film, WhirlyBall is not intended for children. So what could be more perfect when welcoming the kids into adulthood?
Some athletes prefer to compete on an empty stomach, in an attempt to be “lean and mean.”Most WhirlyBall players fill up at the buffet, in an attempt to be “fat and happy.”
All games are monitored closely by trained referees. Sometimes it’s fun to chuck a ball at one of them, just to keep ‘em honest.
Most WhirlyBall enthusiasts prefer actions to words, so we’ll make this brief. It doesn’t matter if you’re having a bachelor party, birthday party, Bar/Bat Mitzvah, or business meeting. Everybody loves WhirlyBall. We can accommodate large groups of all ages, and our catering rocks. But we both know a piece of paper is never going to convince you. So schedule some court time and give it a whirl.

Dress Code PolicyWe recommend pants or slacks.
Skirts and high-heeled shoes are strongly discouraged if participating in WhirlyBall.No sandals or bare feet are allowed on the court or in the WhirlyBug™.
WhirlyBall Safety RulesNo running permitted on the court or in the common area.
No admittance to the court without WhirlyBall staff supervision.Keep hand on steering column at all times.
Seat belt must remained fastened at all times.No play allowed on the court unless from operating WhirlyBugTM.
Never use hands to pick up the ball from the court floor.Do not use hands or feet to push off wall, bumper, or other WhirlyBugTM.
Ramming from behind will not be tolerated and player will be ejected from the court.Do not bump another player while they are scooping up the ball from the court.
Do not drive full speed into the wall! Remove foot from accelerator pedal and, if necessary, turn to minimize impact.No eating, drinking, chewing gum or smoking on the court.
It is suggested you do not reach behind your bumper car to play the ball.
WhirlyBall Game RulesTwo points scored for hitting the center circle in the net, three points from beyond 3-point line.
After each score, ball is turned over to the opposing team.Four-point penalty for collisions from behind or while the opponent is scooping up the ball.
Two-point penalty for hitting opponent’s scoop or body.Two-point penalty for touching the ball with your hands unless it is stuck in your scoop or falls inside your WhirlyBugTM.
It is the responsibility of each player to notify the WhirlyBall Staff immediatelyif they encounter any problems with their equipment.
Restrictions & PoliciesPeople with the following conditions are not permitted to play:
Under 54” in height, cardiac disease, intoxication, pregnant women,individuals with major neck or back problems.Outside food or beverages are not permitted.Lombard WhirlyBall is a smoke-free facility.
All groups must be accompanied by one adult chaperone for every 15 youths.
