IntroductionDear Partner,

Welcome to the latest edition of the Mitre Sports International newsletter.

We have had an action packed first quarter to 2010, with lots of exciting marketing activities happening with Mitre right across the world. Some highlights include the completition of a dedicated Mitre website for our partners in Russia - www.Mitre.ru, as well as a new version for Chile that is already in development along with fulltranslations.

The Mitre Extranet is also being updated shortly with some amazing new imagery we have photographed with Mark Schwarzer as well as some new campaign images.

We are also pleased to share that a new International Retail Concept is being developed for Mitre, that we hope to reveal fully to you all at the International Sales Conference in June.

SOUTH AMERICACopa Libertadores 2010

The competition is starting to heat up in the group stages of the Copa Libertadores, with both Mitre sponsored teams CA Cerro and CA Banfield both doing well in their respective groups.

CA Cerro are currenty first in Group 5, they are currently 3 points ahead of third place (Deportivo Quito) and 2 points ahead of second place (Internacional RS). CA Cerro have played 3, won 2 and drawn 1.

CA Banfield are currently second in Group 6, they are currently 3 points ahead of third place (Monarcas Morelia) and 1 point behind the leaders (Nacional). Banfield have played 4, won 2, drawn 1 and lost 1.

Good luck to both teams taking part in the competition.

SOUTH AFRICAMitre joins forces with Netball South Africa

Johannesburg, South Africa - The world’s oldest manufacturer of soccer balls are joining forces with South Africa’s biggest women’s sport for the next three years.

The value of the sponsorship comes to R1million, with the major contribution in equipment. “Mitre are proud to sponsor Netball South Africa and to supply the national team with our world class sports equipment,” said Mitre International Managing Director Gary Hibbert. “There should be some exciting netball at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi in October, and we wish NSA all the best in their preparation for the Games.”

Brett Burnhill, MD of Leisure Holdings, the distributors of Mitre in South Africa, said he hoped the sponsorship could be continued beyond the initial three years. “We are absolutely delighted and honoured to be associated with NSA,” he said. “We have high regard for all the good work they do, and hope to take this association beyond the three years of the initial agreement.”“NSA strive to form partnerships with quality brands as far as sporting equipment is concerned,” said NSA President Mimi Mthethwa. “With this in mind, Mitre was the easy choice to make.”

DENMARKNew Mitre showroom unveiled in Denmark

After several months of planning and design, we are delighted to share with you some images from the new Mitre showroom facility in Denmark.

Steen Wrang and his team have moved into an excellent new showroom and warehouse facility.

There is a a fantastic crowd scene visual in the main corridor which leads to the Mitre showroom facility. It also has a Foosball table, Goal and Net teamwear display units and artificial grass floor covering,

It also has a TV monitor which is used for showing their latest DVD and promotional materials, and occassionally, when time allows, a few classic matches involving Mitre products.

AUSTRALIANew Footwear range unveiledElan Polo in Australia are proud to unveil their new footwear range,the ‘Tonewalker’

The ‘Tonewalker’ is designed to help you work out whilst simply walking.

They are in shops now and can be purchased from a number of Big W stores across Australia.

In the first two days of the shoes being in-store they sold 1500 pairs, which is a 60% sell-thru and a truly phenomenal result.

UKMitre sponsors the Football League Awards ‘Goal Of The Year’ AwardOn Sunday 14th March, The Football League Awards took place at the Grosvenor Hotel in London, the event was for recognising footballing excellence on and off the field.

Mitre’s part on the night was the Mitre Goal Of The Year Award.

Every club nominated their ‘Goal Of The Year’ and after all the votes, with only 1% being the difference the winner was: Nicky Maynard (BRISTOL CITY) - v. Queens Park Rangers, 26th December 2009

UKCarling Cup Final 2009/10Mitre was ever present on the field of play at Wembley with the Carling Cup Final official matchball.

The Mitre Revolve football was used throughout the tournament.

The Cup Final was watched by 7 million viewers in the UK and 130 countries across the globe.

Mitre ran The Carling Cup Final and FourFourTwo.com Competition on Facebook which was a big success in terms of growing fan numbers, and driving traffic to the the page.

The Final itself was a fantastic event with Manchester United coming out 2-1 winners over Aston Villa.

Villa took the lead after 5 mins when England’s James Milner scored a penalty, Michael Owen then equalised for United before Wayne Rooney came off the bench to score a great header and the winner.

UKSocial network sites growing!A big thank you to everyone who has added and suggested Mitre on the Facebook and Twitter pages. We are making good progress and now have over 2,000 fans on Facebook and over 70 followers on Twitter.

We have developed a full plan of action, with regular content, including competitions, interesting topics for discussion and photos. All these methods will help grow interest around the brand and drive engagement with the consumer.

UKMitre sign Nick MacleodMitre are proud to announce they have signed an agreement with Rugby Union player Nick Macleod from the Sale Sharks.

With already 2 man of the match honours this season, Nick is currently recovering from minor injury and due to come back and help Sale climb the table.

Nick currently wears the Mitre Revolves which he is very happy with.
