Following the results of the previous report, a more detailed investigation were conducted to determine the crucial and most economical mitigation procedures to best answer the problem of the tilted two-storey residential building at the Camella Montego. The ensuing findings are listed below:

a. The structure is apparently resting on recently backfilled soil as per interview with Camella representatives. The tilting then was primarily caused by differential settlement. A phenomenon where the supporting soil compresses at different rate due to difference in in-place density and other varying properties.

Section 302.4.4 of the NSCP provides the requirements for compaction of backfilled soil. The possible violation of this code as well as the lack of appropriate tests to guarantee the construction procedures resulted to unreliable layering of the backfill material thus leading to some parts of the building footprint sitting on looser soil that eventually resulted to differential settlement. Settlement being the relative deflection of the soil with respect to its original level (remarkably noticeable during the first 3 years of deposit)..b. In contrast to the previous report, the unrestrained slope at the rear of the building is evidently irrelevant to the tilting since the grade and distance from the structure is fairly within the allowable range (see Appendix ). Furthermore, there were no sightings of any heaving in the face of the slope thus it was not disturbed by the incident.

As ocular reports show that there are no evident structural distresses and other signs of failures such as cracks and deflections on the super structure therefore, saving the structure as a single unit will only mean one thing, jock the entire building up to its desirable level.

Underpinning by expanding resin injection is a non-disruptive procedure which involves injection of structural resin that will fill the voids within the soil therefore increasing the in-place density. During this procedure, the structure will be returned to the desired level and the tilting will be solved.
