During this time I have been involved with Mitchell in a variety of roles as his Head of House (Henn’s, 2011- 2013), Head of Boarding (2014-2015) and as of this year as the Head of Senior School. These roles have enabled me to observe Mitchell’s development across his academic, sporting, cultural and social pursuits over a significant period of time, allowing me to develop a strong sense of his positive attributes, talents and abilities. Throughout his time at Guildford Grammar School a hallmark of Mitchell’s behaviour has been his community mindedness and his willingness to provide assistance to both individuals and the School. This has been demonstrated by willingness to give up his time to assist with a range of events at a School, House and Boarding level by offering assistance in his areas of interest including filming and photography, lighting, PA and audio- visual support. Mitchell is characterised by a helpful and courteous nature. He has developed many close friendships in both the boarding and school environments, always showing care and concern for others. He has been excellent in supporting younger students in both the House and Boarding environments. Mitchell has achieved success in a range of settings. Those of most significance are his achievements in Drama, Cadets and a variety of sporting pursuits including Athletics (cross-country), Australian Rules Football and his most noteworthy sporting achievement, Coxing the Fourth VIII Rowing crew to victory at this year s ‘Head of the River’ event. His success in these environments demonstrates he is able to participate effectively as a member of a team and is well positioned to carry out instructions with the view of a team or unit goal in mind, accompanied with a high level of performance. As a student Mitchell has demonstrated a sound work ethic throughout his time at the School, with a particular flair in the field of Information Technology. He demonstrates outstanding performance when given the opportunity to work in a practical setting through the Schools’ Workplace Learning programs. Having been associated with Mitchell in a residential setting, I can confirm he is a caring and community minded young man who could be recommended for University. He relates very well to the School and House staff and has been able to develop a positive rapport with many teachers, coaches and boarding staff. This coupled with his success in practical working environment prior to leaving school, clearly demonstrates his level of maturity and his ability to relate to adults in a variety of settings, further increasing the likelihood of positive outcomes in a tertiary education setting. Mitchell’s final year at school began with some significant challenges as a result of the loss of a close family member, coupled with him being geographically isolated from his family. During this time he has shown tremendous strength and resilience, and he has been proactive in seeking assistance from his key support networks in the School. For a young man of Mitchell’s age, this proves a substantial amount of character. Mitchell is a young man who has shown tremendous promise and potential. I have no doubt that he will achieve great success in any of his future pursuits. Brad Evans Head of Senior School (08)93779250 0450 606 310 [email protected]
