Todd Hardin has taken on the responsibility of submitting our chapter’s events to the News & Views section of the
MI magazine. With Todd’s help we will now have regular submissions to this section. This section in the MI
magazine keeps other clubs informed of our clubs activities, celebrations etc. Submissions to Todd need to be done
by the 5th
of every odd month. Please email Todd with your submissions at [email protected]
September Activity Guide for a Day Fundraiser was held on September 16
th on Pomme de Terre. We had ten guests from all over
the state on the water for the day. High skies and hot temperatures made the day uncomfortable but there were
several fish caught. Largest reported fish was about 32 inches and some below 30.
The weekend was summed up by one person by saying, “Just wanted to say a big thank you for a great weekend!
Although I didn’t catch a muskie, I did learn a lot of tips to fish for them.”
Thanks to everyone that volunteered to guide; Denis Ledgerwood, Gary Pearson, Doug Hutchison, Earle
Hammond, Eddie Stephens, Fred Ipock, Paul Olejniczak, and George Donner.
Thanks to everyone that participated to help make this a successful fund raiser.
Wayne Humphrey
Thanks to Wayne Humphrey for organizing this event, your efforts to insure successful fundraisers do not go
unnoticed.
September 23rd
was the 11th
annual Border War Challenge
between the Pomme de Terre Chapter & the Shawnee
Muskie Hunters on Pomme de Terre Lake.
Our club took back the traveling plaque!
Score was Pomme Muskie Club 3 fish for 108 ¾ points
to 0 for Shawnee. Weather was extremely warm for the
time of year with a bright blue sky making for less than
optimal fishing conditions. Pomme had 14 teams fishing
while Shawnee had 3 teams. Fish for the Pomme Club
were caught by the team(s) of:
Gary Pearson & Davin Sawyer a 41 ¼” Muskie
Jim “Coach” Wilson & Clayton Ginnings a 36 ½”
Muskie
Earle Hammond & Dick McPike a 31” Muskie.
Gary Pearson & Davin Sawyer took home the Big Fish
Pot of $125.
Thanks to Steve Worstell and Gary Pearson for cooking
brats & burgers at the Friday night picnic and for Jim
Smith for cooking steaks at the Saturday evening dinner.
September 24th
was the King of the Lake Tournament
Part 2. The fishing conditions did not improve and as a
result no fish were caught on the 2nd
leg of the tournament during the ½ day event. Susan Sappenfield won the Big
Fish Pot of $90 by draw.
The next and last leg of the tournament is Sunday November 5th
and is a full day event; fishing hours are 8AM to
4PM with awards immediately following.

It’s going to hard to believe that November is already here.
Saturday November 4th
is our White Bass Outing.
On Friday November 3rd
we will be gathering for a “Pay As You Go” meal at the Crappie Hole
Restaurant at Carson’s Corners at 6pm where we will go over the details for the outing.
On Saturday November 4th
there is a dinner and nominations meeting at the Masonic Hall
starting at 6pm. The club is providing dinner and we will nominate officers for the following
year. We will be reviewing the results of our fundraising efforts and discussing how to best
honor Fred Wehrli utilizing the donations made in Fred’s name and the matching club funds.
Some suggestions to date are to rename the fall tournament to the Fred Wehrli Memorial
Tournament to keep Fred’s memory alive. Utilize the donations and club matching funds to
modernize our website and create a Facebook page by engaging a professional website &
Facebook page designer to coordinate with Earle and others for updating and maintenance.
Please make plans to attend the meeting even if you are unable to fish. The November
nominations meeting & the December planning meeting are the 2 most important meetings for
the club and we need your input.
PLEASE MAKE PLANS TO ATTEND!
