CHILDREN, YOUTH & FAMILY MINISTRY

Ministry with our little ones…

We held a Birthday Party for Jesus last Sunday (December 13th) and enjoyed celebrating with 11 of the young-

est members of West Immanuel and their parents. It was a wonderful morning celebrating Jesus’ birthday. I

will look into the possibility of hosting another event or two throughout the year for children in this age group

and their parents.

Middle School Ministry & Confirmation

Confirmation students enjoyed a fellowship night on December 2nd and decorated the church Christmas trees.

We will cover the story of Jesus’ birth this week at class. We will break from class on December 23rd and 30th.

We’ll resume our regular schedule on January 6th.

• Looking Ahead into 2016: Christ Jam (A synod-sponsored event) for students in grades 5-8 will be held

February 26th-27th.

High School Youth

• Thank you to Hope Swanson, Erik Sagness, Reed Johnson, and Hans & Catherine Johnson for making

youth group possible on Wednesday nights!

• High School Youth will also break on December 23rd and 30th.

• Luther Point will be hosting a Jr/Sr High Weekend at camp in early 2016. If dates work for us we’ll

start promoting the weekend as soon as dates have been set and materials are available.

• We’ll host a 30-Hour Famine again this year for students in grades 7-12. The date is yet to be released.

Coming soon!

• Mission Trip Plans: We currently have 18 students registered with 3 adult leaders. Planning and fund-

raising are underway! The Schwan’s Cares Campaign started on November 18th – The Mission Team will re-

ceive 20% on all orders! We receive 40% on e-gift card orders. Please help support the youth who will be par-

ticipating on the 2016 Mission Trip to Kansas City, KS! (Trip dates are: July 9th – 16th, 2016). We will begin

Team Meetings in January.

WORSHIP MINISTRY

• Youth in grades 5-8 led worship on Sunday, November 29th (the first Sunday of Advent). They did a

great job!

• The Service of Remembrance and Hope will be held on Sunday, December 20th at 4pm. A light meal

will follow the service.

• Thank you to Megan & Tanya Reigel (Cindy Nelson Accompanist) for providing special music last

Sunday.

• We have special music lined up for Christmas Eve worship services.

• We are looking into doing an Easter Play/Program this year. We haven’t finalized plans, but we’re

looking into holding it during Holy Week sometime (not on Easter Sunday). There has been expressed interest

from children in participating!

CONTINUING EDUCATION

• I will be attending the ReCharge Conference on Saturday, January 9th in Eden Prairie. I’ve extended an

invitation to those on the Youth Ministry Team as well. It’s an event featuring worships related to Youth Min-

istry. Some workshop titles include: Bullying – let’s stop it now, Discovering the Missing Link to Our Disci-

pleship Strategy, Prayer Lab, Stages of Faith Development, How to Effectively Minister to Middle School Par-

ents, Making Disciples in the World of Sports, Essential Leadership…and many more.
