Sessions September 13, 2016

The Power of “Why” Debbie Nelson In this opening session participants will be challenged to think about why their ministry exists. Are the reasons and inspiration behind the founding of the ministry still relevant in today’s world? What does the future hold and what role will the ministry play as it moves forward? In this interactive session we will probe beyond current mindsets. Attendees will explore why their ministries exist in order to lay a foundation for developing an effective communications strategy.

Session 1 | 9:00 – 10:15am

Brandraising Debbie Nelson The strength of a ministry’s brand is central to its internal and external communications. In this session we will explore Brandraising, a practical approach for understanding and developing your brand at the ministry, identity and experiential levels. We will focus particular attention on key audiences, messaging and brand standards. We will also discuss when to consider rebranding.

Session 2 | 10:30– 11:45am

Hands On Branding Clinic Debbie Nelson We will finish the day with this Lead and Learn session. To make the most of this time, all participants are asked to conduct a brand audit before attending the conference. To do this, each organization should bring samples of all marketing materials along with a listing of all of the other ways their brand is being executed. Think BIG and BROAD when considering your brand. Working together we will review your current efforts. Walk away with specific tactics for managing your brand and improving the effectiveness of your communications.

Session 4 | 4:00 – 5:30pm

Mastering and Managing Content Debbie Nelson Content marketing is an ongoing strategy focused on creating and sharing valuable, relevant and consistent content to attract, motivate, inspire and retain participants and supporters. Keeping your audiences engaged with fresh new content can be daunting for ministries. In this session we will work together to develop your core list of topics, an editorial calendar and a communications timeline. And we will discuss how to establish your content voice and why it is important to have one.

Session 3 | 2:00 – 3:30pm

Workshops September 14, 2016

Marketing for Faith Based Ministries: How to Effectively Reach the Wider Community Jennifer Rodia This workshop will focus on strategic planning for outreach evangelism. Your ministry wants to impact lives, helping people know Christ and engage them through Christian discipleship. One of the ways you can accomplish this is through marketing strategy. Focusing your marketing efforts on a specific demographic helps improve your communication messages for the people you want to reach. During this workshop, we will cover the tools to market your ministry to the churched and unchurched, build a strategy, and explore intentionally collaborating with local churches to integrate camp retreat ministry and faith community outreach.

Workshop 1 | 9:00 – 10:20am OR 10:40 - 12:00pm

Getting the Most from your Marketing Budget: An Inside Job Jake Souva Do you have a marketing budget below what you consider adequate? Do you feel like you’re unsure if you are investing this budget in the right places? Or for some do you feel you are not even sure where to begin? Jake will help you identify a strong foundation and begin to shape a workable plan for your team, in house and on budget.

Workshop 2 | 9:00 – 10:20am OR 10:40 - 12:00pm

Getting the Most from your Marketing Budget: Outside Help Jake Souva There are times when you need help from a third party partner to achieve your marketing goals. Where do you start? Who can you trust? How do you assess if that marketing expert has the insight and background to reach persons interested in the niche of your nonprofit ministry? Jake will help you and your team discern when you need help and just how to work with that partner to get the best bang for your buck.

Workshop 4 | 2:00 – 3:30pm OR 4:00 – 5:30pm

Communicating Faith in the 21st Century Jennifer Rodia Learn how to effectively communicate in today’s society and to equip the faith community to share transforming stories. This workshop focuses on going beyond just having a website to effectively implementing a broader online presence. Recent research suggests Millennials (people born around 1983 to 2000) populate the ranks of social media users, more so than any other demographic. We will cover the basics of launching a successful online strategy and learn new ways to catch the attention of local church leaders and those who are seeking new ministry locations and opportunities. By engaging your audience online first, you extend your reach beyond scheduled events and expose your audience to your message before they visit your camp and retreat center or ministry.

Workshop 3 | 2:00 – 3:30pm OR 4:00 – 5:30pm
