Tuesday, July 09, 2013 The team started the day by having eggs , “fry jack” (sweet bread), and fruit at Arms of Love church. Everyone on the team really appreciated the words of encouragement from home. After a time of prayer, we began ministry preparations for the day by setting up the puppet stage, testing the church’s sound equipment, setting up rooms for crafts and snacks and laying out cones for sports. Today’s VBS took place in San Ignacio at the Arms of Love Church, our base of operations while with Pastor Caleb in the country of Belize. We had passed out flyers the day before and were expecting a larger crowd than yesterday in Santa Elaina, where 70 kids showed up. The total number of kids that came out did not disappoint, as it was close to 130 that showed up at the Arms of Love church. Because we had so many kids we separated them int o boys and girls for crafts, sports and snack ti me. And then we came together as a large group for a time of worship, puppets, singing and the salvation message. Abigail and Tracy took some of the kids and played dodge ball. And some of the older boys played soccer with Jacob, Joel and Cade. They also played freeze tag and other games the youth and kids had a blast!

The team started the day by having eggs, “fry jack” (sweet bread), and fruit at Arms of Love church.

Everyone on the team really appreciated the words of encouragement from home.

After a time of prayer, we began ministry preparations for the day by setting up the puppet stage,

testing the church’s sound equipment, setting up rooms for crafts and snacks and laying out cones for

sports.

Today’s VBS took place in San Ignacio at the Arms of Love Church, our base of operations while with

Pastor Caleb in the country of Belize. We had passed out flyers the day before and were expecting a

larger crowd than yesterday in Santa Elaina, where 70 kids showed up. The total number of kids that

came out did not disappoint, as it was close to 130 that showed up at the Arms of Love church. Because

we had so many kids we separated them into boys and girls for crafts, sports and snack time. And then

we came together as a large group for a time of worship, puppets, singing and the salvation message.

Abigail and Tracy took some of the kids and played dodge ball. And some of the older boys played soccer

with Jacob, Joel and Cade. They also played freeze tag and other games – the youth and kids had a

blast!

Everyone on the team helped out with crafts. We made salvation or faith bracelets with the kids.

We also served cookies and juice for a snack.

Cade dressed as Gideon told the Bible story, and our puppet team chimed in where needed. Pastor

David gave the salvation message. And the team did several songs with hand motions to get the whole

crowd excited about praise and worship.

At the end of the day we individually gave out medals, blessed every child and told each kid they were a

winner with God on their side. You should have seen the kids face light up with a small when we gave

them each a medal! Several of the kids were mesmerized by the puppets and had to say good-bye…

The group gave Pastor Caleb some ties and Aida his wife an apron. Caleb and Aida expressed their

sincere appreciation of Grace Covenant Church and wanted GCC to know that Arms of Love celebrates

their 10 year anniversary next April.
