• In the opening for Final Destination 1, we see a close up of the wing with smoke coming out of it. This suggests to the audience that there will be some trouble with the wing which the people on the plane may not be aware of.

• We also see a wide shot of the passengers on the plane which shows them in a cheery mood and celebrating that the plane has taken off. However this contrasts with the close up of the main character with a worried expression on his face which suggests to the audience that something bad is about to happen as his reaction is different to the other passengers.

• As an audience we get the feeling that something bad may happen as we see more of the main character than the rest of the people on the plane which suggests his importance.
