Miraculous Movements Movements are happening in some parts of the Muslim world, movements that are transforming societies. Muslim background followers of Jesus are proving their discipleship through obedience to Him and in producing much fruit. Where these movements are happening there are some clear characteristics: a demonstration of the compassion and love of Jesus, much prayer, God preparing hearts and Jesus revealed in dreams, discovering God in the Bible and obeying his word, disciples making disciples. Ordinary people are participating in an extraordinary harvest. These movements are about God doing what only God can do, and He’s inviting his people to join him in the harvest to pray and to engage. A feature of these movements is small study groups. These groups typically begin with a close existing relationship or social network. Their purpose is to lead a person, family or group to discover more about God and His salvation. The method used is simple. They say what they are thankful for this week and share their needs and the needs in their community. They read or listen to the Scripture passage for the week and retell it in their own words. They think about what can be learned about God from the text and ask, if this is true, how would they have to obey and change? They plan to share what they have learned with someone else. The following week, they review how their lives changed, how their sharing was received and how they met the needs of others. In time, thankfulness becomes worship, sharing needs becomes intercession and serving, and reviewing becomes accountability. The role of the field worker is not to teach but to facilitate discovery. When people come to faith they are encouraged to start and run groups of their own. Frontiers has always been focused on seeing church planting movements across the Muslim world. We’re encouraging and enabling our field members to pray for, facilitate and catalyse movements to Christ. “A leader of the community had become a Christ follower, along with his family, and he had shared the gospel with another man, who in turn took the gospel to his sons, who then went to another family, and soon there were many people sharing their faith in the town.” Miraculous Movements, Jerry Trousdale WITH LOVE AND RESPECT, INVITING ALL MUSLIM PEOPLES TO FOLLOW JESUS web: www.frontiers.org.uk tel: 0303 333 5051 email: [email protected]
